How I Met Your Mother - Season 5 [DVD]

Ok so Season 5 isn't the best season of HIMYM. However, this is the best box set so far. The extra's include music videos, behind the scenes, bloopers and commentary. Add to that a final disk that allows you to download certain scenes to your phone or computer this is a step up in the extras - some seasons have been lacking let's be honest.As to the season itself. I personally really enjoyed it. There are some very funny scenes within the series which are well worth repeated watching. The storyline does progress - after a bit of a lack of progression on the meeting the mother storyline in recent series. Some of the episodes are up there with the best (100th episode, Slapsgiving 2, Wedding Bride, Playbook are some of those). Overall the package works and they have given you a reason to buy the box set this time. Funny and with good extras

I specifically bought this item for the fact that it states on amazon that it is available in French for both subtitles and in language. I want to improve my French and I love How I Met Your Mother so I was really excited to find this particular DVD. I ordered it and I was disappointed to discover that it was only available in German and English, according to the DVD case.HOWEVER, I have just put it in and it does have that it is available in French on the DVD itself, the option for all three (English, German and French), but for some reason on the DVD case it says only English and German.I was in the middle of writing a bad review for it and decided to just check if it was available in French when I actually put it in the DVD player, and indeed it is :)So I am writing this as a warning for anyone else. It's all good French-practicers :)

I really dont understand how people rate this season so badly. I waited so many months for this. I loved the first 4 seasons and own them all. After watching them so many times i kind of lost interest in the show. But that was just because I knew every word they would say. But then this season arrived and after reading the reviews I wasnt expecting a lot from this season but i have to say this season is just great. It is not all about barney. We get to know see how everybody in the gang changes and slowly moves on from their life we know from the previous seasons. and i have to say they are not just random episodes. I loved them all (only slap bet 2 wasn't really good in my opinion). You get some more information in this season about the mom but not that much. Though he gets to see her ( at least her feet;) ). I really loved this season and i watched the whole season in 2 days! This season continues a wonderful show. And i am really glad that we dont get to know the mother yet. This means at least one more season. I hope even more will follow.

Being 17 years old, I love this type of show and am a fan of sitcoms like this (Big Bang Theory, Friends etc) and i really love this show but they can screw up their storylines sometimes. I felt the whole Barney/Robin relationship was a big let down after a promising start during the 1st episode. There had been this huge build up throughout the prev. season and it was over within a few episodes. It was a shame as i thought they were really good together. Some of the episodes were a bit unrealisitc and got a bit annoying (for instance, the smoking eppisode). Also them having a moment between Robin and Ted was also annoying as i dont feel they work that well, as during the time they were dating Robins personality was really diluted and it deviated away from her character.(I really am a fan of this show, despite my rant) I did give this 4 stars as it is an amazingly funny show and when it does the moments right, they are truly brilliant. The first episode was so cute and highly enjoyable. I will always be a fan of this show and hope that there are plenty more seasons. I also found this season was quite musically based and Barneys suit song was brilliant.

A great DVD - very worth the price, especially if you are a HIMYM fan. It's a totally original programme - if you like Friends, Scrubs or the Big Bang Theory, you're very likely to love this season too.It's not my favourite season - that's definitely season 3 or 4. It is also helpful to already know what is going on in the story, otherwise you miss crucial details and very clever scripting from the writers.
