Spear & Jackson 4850SR Traditional Stainless Steel Soil Rake

The Spear & Jackson Soil Rake is a well-built, traditional garden tool that performs reliably for everyday tasks. The stainless steel head and solid handle give it a good weight and balance, making it comfortable to use for extended periods without feeling cumbersome. I actually bought this for the second time - the first one unfortunately snapped while I was using it to rake stones through soil. Up to that point, it had performed very well, and to be fair, that was a fairly heavy-duty task for a traditional soil rake rather than one designed for moving compacted material. Used for its intended purpose - levelling soil, breaking up light clods and preparing seedbeds - it does the job admirably. The finish is neat, the handle feels smooth and sturdy, and the stainless steel tines glide easily through the soil without clogging. The blue colour gives it a clean, modern look and makes it easy to spot among other tools in the shed. While it may not stand up to intense or industrial-level work, it’s a dependable, well-made tool for general garden maintenance and soil preparation.

Love this rake. You can’t beat a traditional rake! Has great sturdiness, not to long not to short, super durable and easy to use. I know it’s practically outweighs its looks, but why can’t it be a great rake and look good in your shed!

ITEM IS VERY GOOD, DELIVERY WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

I have used Spears and Jackson tools for years, they always feel good quality however, the handle snapped after 10 mins of use just racking small stones off an area I was preparing to sow grass seed. I am disappointed with this item considering it was 2.5 times the cost of others available on Amazon.

The head is a little smaller than my old one, though the tines have a nice curve to them. The handle is a little shorter than I would have liked, especially for taller people, though the quality is easy to see

The overall quality of this rake is excellent. Even damp clay soil doesn't stick to the stainless steel head, so keeping it clean (and better functioning) is easy. Being 6' tall, I would prefer a handle, 6-8' longer but I'm not deducting a star for that. This is my second one of these rakes. The first, which I purchased two years ago, was stolen. There is no noticeable difference in quality between the two.

exactly what I Iooked for. Handle comfortable to grip, rake head tough to last. Simple and beautiful looking.
