Deathstroke Vol. 1: The Professional (Rebirth)

Hard to follow at times, but enjoyable
Deathstroke aka Slade Wilson is one of my favourite characters in DC Comics, point blank. And thus I have been very much looking forward to reading his Rebirth title, having been somewhat let down by his New 52 title. While the bouncing back and forth between smaller stories and flashbacks was a bit jarring, and confusing at times, I found myself reading through this volume rather quickly. And I found I rather enjoyed it. The high points for me were the maturity of the tone, the action, the dialogue, the reintroduction of elements of Slade's history; particularly his entertaining relationship with Wintergreen and the way Slade himself is portrayed.Speaking of The Terminator, here he is shown to be the cold, calculating, efficient mercenary and assassin he is meant to be. Christopher Priest is also not afraid to show the more unlikeable traits the character exhibits. Which I actually prefer to the more 'anti-hero' approach some have tried. The events of Deathstroke's New 52 series appears retconned here, too, as from what I'd read, there is no mention of it at all.I'd say pick this up if you're a fan of the character, pick it up.

A quality struggle
I gave deathstroke 4 stars because the story, writing and art are all amazing but the way in which it tells it's story is jarring, it constantly sends you back to different time's in his past then pulls you back to the present. Imagine what they do in arrow when it goes back to something that happened in the past that directly effects the present but doing it every 2 minute's. Also worth noting that it isn't the most new reader friendly book to come out of rebirth, it will guide you through so much and then throw you into the deep end before guiding you again for a short period. All in all though it's still a good read and if you already like deathstroke you will probably pick this up anyway but if you are new to the character it is a somewhat good jumping on point, just remember that deathstroke is a villain and this book won't have you cheering for him!

Disappointing..
I've always loved the character of Deathstroke, but I felt this was hard to read at times. It was all over the place and I'm really getting sick of hearing about Slades family. There is so much potential in Deathstroke but in my opinion, Christopher Preist does not show this. Hope Garth Ennis one day takes up the reigns, that would be a comic worth reading!

One of the worst graphic novels I've had the misfortune of reading
Compared to the new 52 graphic novels. These are terrible. The 'action' is Laughable and is over in seconds. It's also really difficult to follow and just generally boring. Avoid and get the new 52 stuff instead
