Not a bad piece of equipment. It has frozen several times on me before but most of the time it works. Only problem is that the mount is basically useless. The joint which swivels the camera around etc. is so loose and weak that even going over a speed bump will often nudge the camera at a weird angleThe unit itself does look good. Bare in mind though, the "IR emitter" which is meant to provide night vision is just an LED light and does nothing apart from create a reflection of light back at the camera in the dark - so its useless. Video quality wise, this is fantastic. I shoot everything at 1080P and 30FPS and I can easily see every number plate whether it be in the day or night. I may be a bit biased however because I do live in London so at night time - everything is illuminated by street lights, shops and other cars. The camera will accept the standard micro SD to a max, I believe, of 64GB. I think 64GB is ample space unless you'll want to be storing every clip that you will be recording. If you want this as an accident proof/insurance scam deterrence then this is for you. A cheap inexpensive solution to the thousands of brake checkers out there. Also - once people see it, they do start behaving which is a nice positive!

I would definitely recommend buying this product to anyone. Not only is it affordable the quality is great. This is the first dash cam purchase as you never be too safe with driving and false insurance claims. Experience some issues due me not purchasing the right memory card Spy Tec were able to help me identify the issue I purchased a new card and now works. Product is great, easy to use and good quality and amazing customer experience will be purchasing again soon for the back of my car and recommending to everyone thank you! 😁

Hard to track down a legitimate G1W on amazon, but the one I received from "SpyTecInc Fulfilled by Amazon" is genuine and has the proper chip in it

Can't expect much for the price, obviously I'm sure there are better cams out there but the video is quite clear and performs fairly well at night. Still working after 2 years so can't complain.

La dashcam in sé è eccellente in tutte le sue funzioni, sia nell'utilizzo diurno che in quello notturno. Qualità delle immagini ottima con targhe ben leggibili. L'angolo del campo di ripresa di 140° permette di non preoccuparsi troppo del montaggio perché la visione sarà comunque completa, per contro nelle riprese qualunque oggetto sembra molto più lontano di quanto sia in realtà (un'auto 10m davanti, per esempio, in ripresa sembra essere ad almeno 30m).La ventosa di fissaggio ha un aspetto fragile, il fissaggio della cam non è solidissimo (vibra un po' sui fondi sconnessi) ma la ventosa non si è mai staccata.Sarebbe bello se questi oggetti fossero in grado di sostenere un'oretta di video con la batteria interna, senza obbligare l'utente a stendere fili fissi o volanti.Un'altra caratteristica davvero gradita sarebbe l'utilizzo di una filettatura standard per fotocamere, in modo da poter utilizzare diversi tipi di fissaggio.

I bought this camera in order to insure myself in case I would end up in a car accident.So I needed reliable, longliving and good quality dash camera.Bought this one regarding reviews and a youtube review. The price was good enough.But after using it for an year I got in an accident and the video that this camera filmed - was not saved in 64gb 10 class kingston micro-sd card.And after thorough revision I found out that some of the filmed footage does not get recorded for some reason.I would not suggest buying this camera.Now I am looking for more reliable camera.

Spy Tec G!WH is an ok unit.I had two and first one failed after 2 weeks and just wouldn't respond so I sent it back for a refund.Shipping, packaging etc was fast excellent and free. Instructions straight forward and installation pretty easy.It seems that these units tend to either be great or have issues so quality control could be to blame. When it comes to recording video it does the job well. My unit came with actual battery and has a wider angle lens "WH" unit.Also have in mind that even when fully charged once the unit is unplugged from the power the battery lasts only few minutes to record. I got a 32 gig micro SD card that was formatted inside of dash cam and it records all without any issues. It is fairly larger unit so also it's pretty visible if you looking for something more stealth.Overall I would still recommend it to someone considering it's one of the cheaper units and the quality of video is better then my A118 dash cam that is more expensive. Fully test it during the time when it can be returned to ensure your unit will be good and work without issues.

It is cheap. This will not seem like a high quality product out of the box. However, the picture quality is excellent, very clear and does exactly what you need it to do. You could find one for double the price that's better made, but if you are just using it in your car, and you leave it plugged into a power source, this is exactly what you want for the price. If you want a better build quality you will have to spend more.I have 2 main issues. 1) I typically mute the microphone when I'm driving and now (6 months in) it will automatically turn back on. Very annoying. Something to consider. 2) The suction up works very well when it is warm out, but if you live somewhere where it is cold the majority of the year, then the suction cup will fall off as soon as the temperature drops and you won't be able to get it back on until it warms up again.

Excellent camera for the price. It has lasted longer than a $300 garmin did.My only complaint is that you cannot mark / save an incident on the SD card. If something happens, you need to manually export the video before it gets overwritten. Use a 64GB SD card, it gives about 8 hours recording time.The LED "IR LIGHT" is really just a led bulb, and is useless. Even after turning it off several times, it keeps reactivating itself. I put electrical tape over it, I really don't want a led light shining out my window for no reason.

This dashcam was affordable and worked like a charm. Make sure to have a good reliable SD Card inside to store the recorded videos. The picture quality was OK, although it could be better... License plates are harder to read if there is sun glare or if it is night time. However, it is clear enough to distinguish car types and should be acceptable footage if ever needed for insurance.

4 stars for value. No more no less for a basic camera. Good clarity even at night time however plates are not readable because of the overexposure of plates illuminated by headlights. Not fake because it records in 1080 and in mpeg. Be aware, it's picky on brands and sizes of memory cards. Did my research and went for a Transcend 16 gb and used it right out of the box. This is important because this camera doesn't like anything formatted by a computer (jumbled up partition table or whatnots) such to render it unusable by the camera. A tip for running your cable is to tug your wire underneath the headliner and go across, then into the plastic gasket down the A pillar, go under the mat and back up to the center console. Doing so would hide most of the cable and make it look like a install by a professional. LED light is a april fool joke sometimes would come one even when "OFF" in setting. Tape it over with black electrical tape solves this little glitch.

Camera functions well enough. the plastic locking latch broke after about 10 mount/unmounts. This is important as I unmount the camera every night (in fear it will attract someone over to break in). Suction cup mount is not the best either. Trying to finagle the wire into an acceptable orientation is difficult. You can make it work but it is cheap and a little cumbersome.

While the camera itself is good, the clip that holds the camera on the mount is very flimsy, broke immediately when I tried to take it off (gently). It's still usable but now to unclip the camera from the cup suction mount I need to use a knife to push the little locking plastic thing on the mount.

Update:After trying several things to get this unit working properly, I tried a different brand of SD card, in a larger capacity. This fixed the freezing issues I'd been having with the unit. It no longer freezes on me, although from time to time, the unit will randomly stop recording. This doesn't happen often, maybe twice a week; often enough that I can't just set it and forget it. I find I have to check the device on a regular basis to make sure it's still recording. If it has stop recording, I simply have to hit the select button on the top of the unit to get it recording again. The device does not need to be unplugged, or otherwise reset. So, overall, it's working, just lacking complete reliability. For these reasons, I've raised my original rating, but the reliability issues keep me from giving it a full 5 stars. I like everything else about it.Original review:I was initially pleased with the purchase. It came in the black box, (not the knock off one in the orange box), and was authentic as described. Files are in .mov format. For the first week or so it worked flawlessly, and the video looked decent.However, a couple days ago the unit began freezing on me. If you touched any of the buttons, nothing would change, and you just heard a beeping sound. The power button would not power down the unit. The only way to get it to work again was to unplug it and wait for the battery to discharge, and have the unit power down. After plugging it in again, it would work for a few minutes before freezing again. I found that formatting the card would allow it to work for a few hours. I think the card is filling up, and not being recorded over, and this causes the unit to freeze. I have it set to loop every 3 minutes (default setting), and I assumed this would automatically have it record over old footage, but I don't believe that is happening. If I watch the time on the screen, I notice that the time for each recording seems to exceed 3 minutes before looping to the next video, and the time seems to be random. Perhaps I just got a bad one, because I based my purchase on the good experiences others have posted about this unit.

First of all, packaging was great. Received the original in black box. I was looking for cheap camera around 30 bucks but found out hard way that they are not worth spending even a penny. This camera has such a great pic quality at day and above average at night. Very happy with this purchase. Will definitely recommend to my friends. Go for G1WH it's a smart choice. Unfortunately can not attach videos here due to video format restrictions.

These little cameras are excellent. I started with a DOD camera which was about quadruple the price. I ended up returning it when I started reading about these G1WH cameras. I purchased 2 (1 for me and 1 for my spouse) and they have done a great job. They do not fall off when it is super hot and always start up beautifully both when hot AND cold. Highly recommend this item and for the price you cannot go wrong. Amazing value.

This is my second Spy Tec G1WH. The first one I put in my wife's car and it's been excellent for almost a year. I bought this one for that very reason and it's been really good for the first couple of days so far. Much better than the junky budget cams I've been using until now.Only reason I took off a star is because I suspect it might have been a refurbished or returned item based on the packaging (no plastic film on screen, cables not tightly wrapped). I'm ok with it as long as works as if it was new. Hopefully it holds up and I won't have to look for return options.So far so good though! Love the cam otherwise.

I have been using this cam for 3 months now and it is working flawlessly. Video clips are pretty good with MOV format. A genuine HD car recorder that preforms as described. Very wide angle that covers traffics more than enough. Would recommend to anyone. The only drawback maybe the noticeable distortion of sound recording.

Update after 11 months of usage: Apr 2016. I've been using this unit for the last 11 months exactly and the G1WH just does not recognize my micro SD card anymore. I've contacted the vendor and he "graciously" proposed to credit for $8 to get a local support. I appreciated the effort but the credit will not get me far to repair this unit so I've asked if I could get a replacement unit instead. Well, few weeks gone by and I got the reply from vendor that the warranty period is finished and I no longer have the $8 credit.impressive full HD video. very easy to install and to set up. would buy it again for my 2nd car. fast shipping in 2 days.
