Following a review (by that on-line drawing tutor bloke with five pencils) in which he rubbished this brand, I was rather skeptical about its performance. He absolutely raved about the Sakura in his comparison playoff, so after much deliberation I bought the Sakura - but including mail from USA and a couple of refill packs, it cost me about sixty-five quid. Ouch. It _is_ brilliant though. Sakura SE2000 Electric Eraser Kit, Black For the sake of hardly anything extra I also bought the Derwent and a couple of boxes of refills. Good for chucking in a bag for out and about, I thought. The Sak comes with Duracells, my Derwent came empty. The Sakura IS better. It is more solid and has more torque and a bit less vibration. Is it more than ten times better, commensurate with the price difference, though? No. It's maybe half as good again - twice if I'm being generous. With fresh batteries, they both work very well and clean up pencil lines more accurately than could ever be done by hand, but there's no real difference in their performance. The Sakura is maybe half a hairs width more accurate - maybe. I suspect it's just a tad more comfortable. They both eat batteries. I get through batteries faster than the tiny eraser refills and neither machine likes being pressed hard onto a drawing but that is neither necessary nor desirable. With tired batteries the Derwent will still have a go where the Sakura ... well, it doesn't stall, it just seems less keen. It's marginal, though. You'll need loads of cheap batteries or a set of rechargables to get the most out of these. AAA unfortunately. Duracells are ideal, apart from the price. Rechargables are slightly lower voltage, remember, so don't perform _quite_ as well but I've happily used 15 for a pound Quidland el-cheapos with no _real_ problems. They still work when the batteries tired, but they aren't as lively, therefore less precise and crisp and tend to bog down a bit if you press on even slightly and it can be a little frustrating in comparison. Buying the Derwent would have been perfectly adequate, realistically. I don't regret buying the Sakura, but if I hadn't got it - say I'd tried both out at a mate's house with a view to buying one, then i'd happily buy the Derwent. If I were in the States where the prices would be more similar to each other than they are in the U.K. then I'd get the Sakura. Both use the same sort of folded steel "alligator mouth" collett which squeezes on the rubber when the fold is pushed into the motor spindle. It works fine down to about 4mm of rubber and they are both simple to adjust. I've never had a rubber fly out or get irretrievably stuck. I don't see how anyone using either correctly would do. I bought a second Derwent to keep with my coloured pencils. No problems there, either The review that coloured my buying judgment was done by an obsessive-compulsive xxxxhead - if you see his tutorials (Buy my exciting five hour video on how to colour-in a nose!!!!) you'll understand. I had to go on the witness protection scheme and have plastic surgery to stop receiving the hard-sell emails but there is no other product comparison information available. I am also not SELLING either of the products, and maybe there's a hint in there too. The Derwent eraser is fine, it really is. if my kit got stolen tomorrow, I'd re-equip with the Derwent. BTW a few people were amused and uncomprehending at the whole notion of an electric eraser; incredulous, even. It was regarded - by non-artists - as something like buying an electric tea-stirring spoon. It hadn't occurred to any of them that this wasn't "lazy erasing" - it was _precise_, no-smudge erasing If you need an electric and you know what it's for, I'm sure I can recommend the Derwent and you'll ve happy with it.

This electric eraser is excellent, comfortable to hold and using the power button has not caused me any issues, for highlighting it's exceptional especially with the design, the spindle speed is sufficient for the job in hand, for larger areas of erasing I'd use the traditional method! The small eraser hasn't transferred pencil graphite anywhere else so I've had no problems with smudging. Summary....it's easy to use, the battery is easy to install and it will last many years! Highly recommended.

This is fab, I don't know how I drew without one. Really easy to use. It did take a couple of tries to get used to it with the speed. The eraser is easy to switch about too when it starts getting low. Just pull on the metal casing and adjust the earser inside and push back in. Takes 2 AAA batteries.

I really wish that I could give this product more stars, because it is great for its purpose. Adds beautiful highlights and really perfects graphite drawings with precision. However, the product literally fell apart in my hands the first time I touched the button. As in, the plastic casing above the removable battery cover came off, the button fell out and I had to put it back together. Fortunately it's a very basic design and is only a matter of putting the right bit in the right place and taking care with the wiring, but it did split again within an hour, so it has been taped together for future use. Besides this possible one off manufactory issue, it's a great product, which is exactly why I'd rather botch job it than send it back for replacement. Though, it does leave a thicker residue than most erasers which smudges graphite when not carefully brushed away. Love it but due to having to repair and maintain myself within hour of purchasing, simply cannot give more stars.

Never knew how useful this would be, as it even erases colour Derwent own pencil for me. The eraser part does wear down really fast, so would recommend buying an extra bag of tips if you are drawing actively.

The Derwent Battery operated eraser is rather good. Good to create highlights/light tones while sketching. Also, find it easy to erase any errors.

これと、100均でも購入してみました。 全然違います。回転数が劣るのだと思います。 細かく消すのが100均のは難しいですが、これは小さな・で消せます。 ただ。しかっり握らないとブレるので、制御するのが大変なのと、スイッチを押し続けるのが大変。これは100均のも同じなので、仕方ないのかも。

The eraser is very easy to operate. And is very efficient, speedy erasing. However, the casing is rather smooth, so take some time to grip it properly to switch on the power. On the whole am happy with the buy.
