Top quality, but needs a little care to use effectively.
I bought this with an eye to assembling a small summer-house. I have not used such a device before, and the sheer speed and driving power is a revelation. Screws can be driven effortlessly and in a fraction of the time that a drilll would take, even one set to "high" speed. If you are driving a lot of screws this is a significant time-saver.. However, proper control of the speed needs a little care with the trigger, and you need to be sure to pay attention to keeping the bit engaged with the screw-head to avoid cam-out.A word of warning: be very careful how you handle screws you have removed using this device - a 2" screw undone at full speed will get hot enough to cause an uncomfortable burn if you touch it!This item is built to Makita's usual high standards, It is a professional tool, and priced accordingly. I am am amateur DIYer, and although I don't need it often, and it was something of an indulgence, it is a pleasure to use and makes larger jobs quicker to complete. It may not be cheap, but in my view it's excellent value for money!

TYPICALLY GREAT MAKITA
What a fantastic piece of kit. It complements the other Makita battery tools I have so well. The batteries charge in less than 25 minutes (3ah) though they are not supplied with this tool. It drives large screws in amazingly quick, I would recommend you just practice on a couple before heading off into the wild blue yonder, impact driver in one hand and a box of screws in t’other.Typical Makita. Well made, well designed; just check the balance when you hold it, very natural, light and powerful.

Great piece of kit
as usual makita always delivers quality tools and this impact driver is no exception..The one thing I have found is that you need to use screwdriver bits that are designed for an impact driver, any cheap ones will be destroyed in no time. This is no fault of the tool itself, if anything it shows how much more torque it has compared to the cheaper models.

Powerful and versatile
I wish I had bought this earlier!I have a Makita Combi Drill and Driver which I highly rate and whilst it good at both jobs its a faff switching between drilling and driving mid task. Buying a dedicated tool makes life so much easier and the control I get from this is perfect for jobs big and small.I found a great deal as a special offer and combined with a gift voucher I had made for an easy decision.I bought this bare as I already had batteries but a quality case for it would have been useful but I managed to trim some internal dividers from the drill driver case and got them both in one box.

Awesome bit of kit, light weight and not that loud when in use.
Awesome bit of kit, fairly light even with 5.0amp battery on,, cheaper than nearly most places I looked at, (AS STATED THIS IS A BARE UNIT ie NO BATTERIES OR CHARGER),and comes in card board box so you can add to your existing makita kit with your existing batteries and existing charger. Laughs at 100mm screws, only used it a few times so cant comment on reliability but being brushless I'm assuming will last a while more if looked after. Not very loud like most either, gentle on the ear oyles.
