Tips for improved reliability
I won't comment on high prices; already explained by the supplier. I think the Libre sensor is fantastic for managing diabetes, but please note the following suggestions:1. Shave your arm before cleaning the skin with the alcohol wipe provided, even if you can't see any hair. Leave your skin to dry completely before applying the sensor. This ensures a good grip with the sensor's adhesive.2. Apply the sensor to the back of your arm two days before activating it (this allows your body time to "accept" the introduction of a foreign object) and stops the problem of wasteful, inaccurate readings on the first day. (This will mean you'll have a sensor on each arm at the end of the 14 day period, with one waiting to be activated.)3. To improve the sensor's adhesive further, cover the sensor with a wound dressing such as Tegaderm (size 6 x 7cm e.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0009Q2OMW/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1499705984&sr=8-1&keywords=tegaderm+6cm+x+7cm&dpPl=1&dpID=41TbhRmHK6L&ref=plSrch): this will help keep it in place if knocked or if you're hot/sweaty. Considering the cost of each sensor, the Tegaderm is a worthwhile investment.Neither method 2 or 3 is approved by Abbots, but I'm on my sixth sensor (bought direct from Abbots) and these tips are widely used by other members on the Diabetes UK forum and approved by my Diabetes Specialist.

Works for what I need it for, so expensive though
I bought this as it was recommended by a friend who is Type 1 and has been using it for a while. The readings are clear and easy to understand. As I am just on a monitoring exercise, it perfect for me. It’s been 7 days and it’s still in place and working. I would say, make sure the application is done correctly as it will come away if it doesn’t have time to stick/cure properly. I did have a large plaster over it but as I am sensitive to sticky plasters, that didn’t go well. Will be trying another type as they are useful to make sure the unit remains in place. Will be ordering another one soon.

The best development in Type 1 diabetes management, to date, in my lifetime
As a long term (40 years plus) type 1 diabetic this is a fabulous device. I can manage and control my blood sugar levels better than ever before. I am, because of the quality of support this gives me, to pay the money to buy this. However, before you do, please check if you can get on prescription. You are more likely to be able to do so in Scotland or Wales. InEngland it depends on your local commissioning authority. It is approved by NHS England for use but some local commissioning authorities(who clearly have no concept of economic analysis) refuse to make it available - bonkers!

£20 more expensive than from Abbot themselves, I won’t be buying from this company again
The Product is excellent but the marketing from this Pharmaceutical Company and not direct from Abbott is extortionate when you consider to use the device as required I need two items per month and that means an extra £ 50 a month. Sorry I won’t use them again.

Fickle item, great idea but expensive and not always working or right
I tried one of these during my pregnancy.Advice - put it on and wait until the next day to activate, as initially the readings are not correct while it adjusts.I was able to monitor my blood sugar for 2 weeks and get an idea of what was happening, so it worked for what I needed, however only 1 out of the 3 I bought worked. When it doesn't work you send the serial number to Abbott via an online submission and they send a replacement, requesting the dud one back. Its not that quick.Installation wise, quick and painless.I used one on my husband, large cavemen type who walks into things as unaware of his size, it lasted less than 24 hours as he knocked his arm when getting in the shower and it came off bending the needle. So that was a waste of money!! May be I should have reinforced it with some tape?
