QuakerYellow Corn Meal 680g

Good quality cornmeal with the right texture for proper American corn bread. The stuff in the supermarkets sold as cornmeal doesn't come close. I still don't know why they put sugar in the cornbread recipe, though. My granny didn't, but then she was from East Texas. I wish I could find proper buttermilk.

It can be hard to find good corn meal in normal grocery stores in the UK, so I was pleased with this. Successfully made a few of the dishes I was missing from the US.I used it to make the following, with no issue whatsoever:- hush puppies- cornbread- polenta

So nice to be able to buy Quaker cornmeal in the UK as it is good product and makes excellent corn muffins and other things. Will definitely reorder more in future. I bought some for my sister-in-law as well.

My cornbread turned out gritty, which I understand is how some prefer their cornbread (I don't), although it tasted good. Next time, I'll try soaking it first. The color of the product is good and the taste is OK. The container is not very good and squashes easily. Also, I could not see a "use by" date anywhere on the container.

Half of the contents are scattered in the packaging as the container is smashed. Only 4 months shelf life.

Item arrived damaged - top was sealed shut with plastic but the cardboard bottom had caved in (in transit I think), luckily not much had spilled. Otherwise a good product and what I was looking for.

Watched a cookery program for american corn dogs so thought I would give them a try, could not find it in any of my local shops, and was supprised it was sold on this site but glad it was, very quick delivery.Big tub should make loads, even if I did mess up my first batch.

Yes, so thankful to be able to get this in England. A Southern American Woman needs proper corn meal. Would use White Lily at home, but this was perfectly acceptable.
