TAEKYUNG Chili Powder For Kimchi (Flake, 1LB)

I love Kimchi and am originally from the states where I used to shop at a fantastic Korean market where you could actually buy Korean pepper flakes from Korea, not China. So needless to say I used to bring back the real Korean HOT pepper flakes. I have only been able to find the mild pepper flakes here in the UK. I recently finished the last amount of the real stuff from Korea so I decided to try this brand. I made my kimchi 3 days ago and it's been fermenting on my counter top. I just tasted it and it's utterly delicious and it's super spicy! I can't believe it. So as others have said, the more you add the spicier it will be. Mine is perfect for my taste. I was going to give it only 3 stars but having tasted my kimchi I can't do that. I know it's from China but the stuff form Korea isn't available here in the UK so in the end I'm really glad I tried this. The pepper powder is packaged in Korea so they are the country who is approving this to sell with their Korean brand name on it. They do have high standards in Korea so you can trust these pepper flakes do the job well! When this damn pandemic is over I'll travel back to the states and buy the Korean stuff again! But in the meantime I'm really happy with these pepper flakes. Btw, even H Mart here in the UK only sells the stuff from China so there's really no other option in the UK. Also, the ready made brands of Kimchi that are available here are terrible and full of sugar. I've been to Korea twice and believe me they don't have sugar laden sweet kimchi there. The real stuff is super spicy! Yum! I'm so thankful to have a brand new batch of spicy kimchi on hand. Will make more next week now that I know I like these pepper flakes! :)

I bought this for my own home made kimchi which has worked out excellent . Robust, full of flavour and very versatile as I’ve now used it for chilli and Caribbean type stews . Less is more I’ve found . Stores well in packet in fridge and lasts months with no degradation.

I wanted this for making kimchi. I found I needed a lot less than the recipe said, so I doubt I'll ever get through the entire 1lb before it gets too old, even keeping it in the fridge like the packet says. The red pepper powder seems like good quality, nice flavoured stuff to my inexperienced taste buds. Certainly my kimchi was totally delicious!

So delicious, I had to order two more packets! Essential for making authentic Kimchi. It gives the kimchi a deep red colour and a sublime flavour. I've made vats for friends and family, and need to make more. The chilli flakes have a warm and spicy hotness without being too harsh, and you can add a lot of it (compared to ordinary chilli powder) to create a deep red colour without it being too fierce. I'm sure it must fire off some of your dopamine neurones, because it's very addictive in kimchi!

Good value for money and great flavour. Just what I’d hoped for.

Got these intially for making kimchi, but they're now used in just about any Korean dish I make. Lovely spicy heat that kinda creeps up on you like a Marvin Gaye song, not the instant molten lava intensity of some other products. The gorgeous deep fiery red colour also adds an instant difference to dishes too, same colour as the fire engine that may need to be called should you go too big on the measurements. For that reason I'd definitely suggest starting with less than recommended measurements and working upto your required taste. Will defintely be coming back for another batch once finished.

Acheté pour faire mon kimchi. C'est une réussite le goût est comme le kimchi en pot que j'achetais chez le chinois. Attention car il est fort ( et donc economique) 3 cuillère à soupe pour un chou chinois complet suffisent.
