Best switch game so far
I purchased this for my Pokemon fan son. Major Dad points with this. Of course I had to product test before Christmas and it is my favourite switch game so far. It has a lot of good Pokemon and it’s kind of like Pokemon go meets mortal combat. There’s a lot of gameplay, and a lot of features. There is hours of fun to be had here. Shadow mewtwo is the coolest Pokemon by far

The Weedle of fighting games.
Announced a few months back, the re-release of the Wii U Pokemon game has been ported to the Switch console with some extra improvements from the original. It should be noted that this is NOT a standard Pokemon game that you see on the handheld systems but a fighting style game. The premise is simple, you choose your fighter from a surprisingly impressive roaster, select a backup fighter who acts as a special attack and then fight against an opponent. You are in complete control of your fighters movements and attacks. It is not a turn based fight but more like a 3D Street Fighter. You can move around the area in complete 3D and attack from all angles. Each fighter has a weak but fast attack all the way up to slow but strong so timing your attacks is vital. There are combo inputs but nothing too complicated. The game uses the standard health system where each fighter as bar of health and when depleted, the round ends. First to two rounds wins. The fighting mechanics are impressive and the controls are tight but there is a floaty feel to the way the Pokemon move around the ring which does feel a little strange to start with. For me though the biggest let down about this game is that it is just fighting and nothing else. While that seems strange to say about a fighting game I do feel it could have greatly benefited from an Adventure mode of some kind or even a story mode like what MKX or Injustice had.You can fight on-line and while I did get a game pretty quick it wasn’t anything that special.Overall, this is a pretty good game and the presentation is excellent but it can become very stale very quickly. However, the on the go play the Switch brings does make it standout from the Wii U original. You can play two player off line, which is great fun and easily more enjoyable then the on-line.I for one hope to see more Pokemon games make their way to the Switch in the future as it is the perfect system for it but these kind of games seem more like filler then anything meaningful. The up coming sequel to Sun and Moon on 3Ds may have been a better choice for the Switch but they have their reasons for not doing so. I did miss out on this game the first time it released on Wii U and was looking forward to playing the Switch version. So is it worth buying? Well, I’d say yes but it is quite a shallow game overall and has very few things to do outside of fighting and it can’t compete in the same ring as the heavy weights of Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. Still, you will get at least a few hours of enjoyment from it and the on the go feature helps it.While I can understand that Nintendo are porting over their Wii U games which is not a bad thing, I think it would have more sense to port Super Smash Bros U first instead of this game.Gameplay (13/20)Graphics (15/20)Sound (15/20)Replay Value (13/20)Value for money (14/20)70/100

Great fun for all ages
This is a great game for all ages and I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes fighting games and anyone who loves Pokemon also I like how you can play with a friend on the same screen and have the choice to not have to play in split screen the only thing I think is bad is that there needs to be more Pokemon to choose from

A satisfied Pokémon fan
This is the first game I bought for the switch. I'm really impressed with the textures of the individual pokémon in this game, it was the first big thing that got my attention during gameplay. Empoleon appears to be covered in wet, downy feathers, Charizard is scaly, Lucario is furry, and every playable pokémon has this.As for the gameplay itself, it's not too dissimilar to the Pokémon GO games, in that it's not a turn based system as is traditional in main series pokémon battles and the old Pokémon Stadium games. The combat system works by shifting between 2 phases, and that takes a bit of getting used as it can lag a little in the process of shifting, so I found that part of the battle took the most concentration. The use of support pokémon is a nice touch I think, as it adds a touch of strategy to your battle, which is appreciated because there were times I did feel like the game was a little more of a button masher. Building up energy stored up in meters adds a twist too, as it allows the Pokémon I've used so far to mega evolve and dish out higher rates of damage and the like. The campaign is good, if not repetitive at times, but it does get progressively harder the more you go on, so it can be challenging too.I would've liked a bigger roster of playable pokémon to choose from, as even with the DLC content it still doesn't feel like there's a whole lot of options are there, and when you see the roster for games like those in the Smash bros franchise, you realise that this is probably quite possible given that there's several hundred Pokémon in existence at the time of this game's release. For a first go I think it's really good, and I see a lot of potential for an even better sequel to this; I hope that happens some time after the generation 8 main series games are released.

is fantastic. It has a good balance of characters
I never owned a Wii U, so I never got a chance to play the original Pokkén Tournament. But this remastered version, which I can play as I own a Switch, is fantastic. It has a good balance of characters, including the ones which were arcade exclusive and newcomer Deduseye, and the story mode has a fair learning curve, even though the fights with Shadow Mewtwo can kick your behind if you aren't prepared. And the online, while I haven't played yet myself, has some very good features, including the ability to watch others fight through the recordings posted. And this is also more like what a Pokémon battle should be like if it was for real, which is a plus in my book.

Bad game, good seller /service
Am selling this on eBay as I opened it but came promptly. Am a big fan of beat em ups and have bought every tekken and nether realm game for years and am also a massive pokemon fan. This game however had so many menus an extras that you'll spent half of every fight selecting what support to use zthe fighting is okay but Iver so quickly and back to more pointless choices again this is an absolute no for anyone hoping to use it as a local mutiplayer which is what I was hoping this would be. Shame it's a good concept poorly executed
