Addis 319244 Closed Dustpan with Handle, Metallic

When my current old dustpan stiff bristle brush started losing its bristles over the course of the past few months, to the point where only half the bristles were left on the brush, I decided it was time to get a new dustpan and brush set from Amazon. I received this item in good time and for some reason read the reviews about this item only after receiving it (I did not read the reviews beforehand as I was in a hurry to order this item as well as other items at the same time). Some reviews suggested that the bristles on the brush were soft not hard, and that the dustpan was rather small. My old bristle brush is also an Addis make and is actually at least 18 years old. The bristles are stiff and to test out, I hit the bristles hard against the palm of my hand and inside of my wrist - and the multiple spiky feeling is enough to tell me that the bristles are hard. Having tested out the replacement Addis bristle brush in the same way as I have done with the old brush, I can say for sure that the bristles are just as hard as that same spiky feeling is there. Also, having done a quick test on my carpeted living room area and hard wood kitchen floor, I can honestly say that the bristles of the new brush is definitely stiff, and feels no different to my old brush prior to the bristles breaking off over the past few months (bearing in mind that overall that old bristle brush has served me well for the past 18 years with no problems). I think some of the reviewers think that because the bristles are flexible, they must be soft, and are probably of the mindset that the bristles can only be stiff if they are totally inflexible. As for the new dustpan, it looks small on first impression, but placed back to back against my old dustpan which is rather large in size, it is the same width and surprisingly slightly longer in depth. It probably looks small because of its black colour, and because the edges towards the handle are curved (so making it look semi-circle, thus smaller in shape), whereas my old dustpan is pale cream in colour and the edges towards the handle are straight (so that it more oblong, thus wider looking in shape). There is a rubber lip along the front edge of the new dustpan which does make a difference when it comes to sweeping in very fine dust and small bits into the dustpan, otherwise without it, it all goes underneath the pan during the sweep especially on hard floor surfaces. My old dustpan doesn't have this feature, so it is a bonus having it on the new dustpan. The new Addis dustpan and brush set is still the same high quality as it was 18 years ago and I strongly believe it will last for many years to come. Very good value for money and would recommend.

Brush not as firm as I thought it would be but on the whole nicevitem

Very sturdy enclosed dustpan of the old fashioned variety, just what I needed I use mine everywhere, & this type stops the stuff you've just collected from being blown everywhere you didn't want it. The base of the pan is level d has a sloped floor so you can sweep up liquids if needed and the change in the angle of the floor helps to stop the light dust or liquid from escaping. The handle is in the middle on the top allowing you to carry it & it's contents safely comfortably & whilst sweeping up to hold the pan in place & when required alter the entry angle of the pan. The brush that was not bought at the same place by me fits into the pan for carrying purposes & for storage. This only came in grey that's a shame but it's design is traditional yet plastic, waterproof light weight and the base has been made sturdy and given a level underside so that the matter being swept up doesn't glow underneath the pan rather than into it, some times I use a scaper to move stuff into the pan & the sharplt angled front edge allows thick liquids to be swept up without ending up with the mess under the pan rather than safely held in it. It's easy to empty the contents and washes out well with water or disinfectant if required, it dries out very quickly & in necessary can be cloth dried. A n essential bit of kit in fact I've got several that I keep in certain places sometimes for certain jobs only so I don't need to carry one downstairs & more importantly those used outside don't get used inside, so my home is cleaner d safe too.

I have found it very difficult to get a 'closed' dustpan. I could only see the small open ones with a brush attached. As usual Amazon came to the rescue, and had this Addis one without a brush, which I didn't need anyway. Very happy with the quality.

Perfect. I wasn't looking for anything large for my garden the importance was the half cover to stop the leaves blowing out. Also the edge is a good fit to the ground so small particles don't slip underneath. Feels sturdy enough so should last.

Would have given 5 stars but the brush needs hanging as not sucrure within the hanging pan.

The one sent was not the same as pictured. I already own one as pictured and this was a repeat order. But the one sent now has a larger square handle that is very uncomfortable in the hand.

I mean, what can you say about a dustpan and brush set but yes they are a dustpan and brush set and they’re fine.

Cette pelle est à la fois pratique et mal conçue car elle permet de retenir le poussière quand on pousse avec le balai (puisqu'elle est fermée) mais le système de bascule à l'avant fait que si elle contient de la poussière et que vous voulez ramasser plus loin, la poussière présente se vide sur le sol.
