Brilliant.
Bought this for my 4yr old daughter who absolutely loves it. As you'd expect for a PG there are no bad words or suggestive scenes. The storyline isn't too difficult for my 4yr old to follow, although she asked a few questions like all little ones do, and was a little scared of the lava beastie, but nothing that she found too traumatising. At least now she has something else to watch besides Frozen and Trolls! I was also quite impressed at The Rock's singing skills! (He's the voice of Maui.)

Not just a film for the kids.
Very surprised with this film, as I seemed to only be hearing about 'Frozen this' and 'Frozen that', and that movie was NOT all it was made out to be. This one though, I've hardly heard anyone talk about it, but omg this is hairs-stand-up-on-your-arms awesome. I had to sit down and watch this after my little girl went to sleep just to see the whole story line uninterrupted. Albeit still a Disney film, and so it is, sigh, yes, a musical, it is refreshing in terms of this is not your ordinary princess waiting to be rescued by a prince. It is 'gasp' NOT a lovestory! Gold medal to Disney. Do more of that, please! I just wish we would see more of Hei Hei. Spin-off perhaps?

Wonderful
I bought this my 3 1/2 year old. We both love it! I like that there is no romantic interest or subplot and that Moana is not defined by her beauty like most princesses. She ends up being defined by her courage and compassion. The film also reads as a love letter to the phenomenal and long history of Polynesian culture. The dances, songs, clothing, outrigger boats, and beliefs are considered carefully and paint a sumptuous picture of historical Pacific Islanders.

Seafaring smash
Written on behalf of my young daughters, who think right now that this might be the best movie ever [aside from perhaps, Frozen]. This immersive tale is well complimented by an original score of very catchy songs that will soon have you singing along as if you've known them for years. There are nods to both Shrek and Ice Age in terms of the characters and story arc influences, but that is not a criticism because it is a template that obviously works for kids and a lot of adults alike.Although no obvious doors were left open, a sequel seems irresistible - and inevitable.

Pretty decent Disney cookie cutter girl power movie
The latest in Disney's increasingly cosmopolitan not-a-princess protagonists, Moana is the daughter of an island chieftain who defies his orders to not sail on the open sea and proves that self belief is more powerful than fearful conservatism, or something - easy for her to say when she has both a demigod and the sea itself on her team, but hey, as long as we get some song and dance numbers then all's well that ends well. It verges on being a bit right-on at times, and Moana herself is such a flawless paragon it's hard to conceive of a story where she doesn't triumph (literally her only flaw is not having ENOUGH ego and self-assuredness), but remind yourself that Disney is openly courting the mainly female, woke Tween market these days and it all makes sense. Girls are allowed silly power fantasies too and in that context Moana isn't too bad.The DVD was a little long to hold my 4-year olds attention but she laughed along with Maui and the funny animal characters, and the theme song has become a favourite to watch on Youtube, so thumbs-up from her, too.

Best of Disney as it should be
Moana is a great story that has so many positive messages to give children of all ages but most importantly it shows the little ladies that they can take on and solve even the most insurmountable problem without the need for a prince. As for repeated watchability - this is head and shoulders above many of the most recent Disney offerings. A true hark back to the Disney movies of yesteryear.- good story- wonderful and socially responsible message- great lessons to learn for all kids watching- kids and those who are kids at heart will love the humour.- hei hei

You're welcome, The Rock
It was a risk buying this dvd as I had never seen the film. The things I had heard about it drove me to make the purchase. I'd made the wrong decision before with a couple of other dvds that I will never watch again. However, this does not apply to Moana. It is a good film to watch and most songs are memorable. The condition of the dvd is perfect.
