Works great! Setup is quick and easy
Works great! Setup is quick and easy. My primary router is located on the first floor of our house and I wanted to use an Ethernet connection for my desktop in the attic since wifi was not an option. I was a bit scared that it would not work at first since my house is rather old and the connection would have to be to another floor. When I first set it up, I hooked up the box to an extension cord on the second floor. This was my mistake as the internet was really bad, my ping was incredibly high, and lag would happen during games (my primary reason for the purchase). After connecting the box to a wall outlet and not an extension cord the product works wonders. My ping went from the 300s to a solid 39. I have been using this product for well over a year now and I must same it was one of the best purchases I've ever made.I never experience any kind of spikes like I did with wifi and the connection is solid.

Support nightmare...
I don't tend to write too many reviews. I spend 30 minutes in chat with customer support who then generates a case ID. I then attempt to use this case ID to generate a return.."The system does not recognize the serial number associated with the case ID.Please contact the Customer Service Department for assistance 1 800 546 5797, [email protected], Monday - Friday, 10:00 am to 7:00 pm GMT, and closed on weekends and holidays."I spend the next 20 minutes confirming my serial number only to get the same exact message.. In the end this is what i get from the tech support person."from Maricel P. (27352) to All Participants:I do apologize for the trouble this has caused you, Mike. The case has been activated on my end. That is the only case ID that is being recorded for this case. This is Technical Support Department and I can only take care of our technical issues. We do have RMA or Customer Service Department that can take care of any issues regarding replacing your defective unit. You can reach Customer Service Department at 1800 546 5797 (Options 3-3-4). They are available from Mondays through Fridays, 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM PST."So the unit fails Sep 9th that I bought on May 29th. Then the technical support is unable to generate a support ticket that their own customer service system can recognize which means I get to call them and spend another 20 minutes on the phone ...after going through the phone tree and giving up my life story for the sake of bad hardware.Wish it would have failed sooner so I could have received a refund.

Nice Upgrade. No problems
I upgraded to this from a Net gear that was only getting about 85 Mbps which would go down to about half that speed as soon as I would download some thing. This Linksys gets the speed that I was wanting from a Power Line. It says it's is connected at 175 Mbps. I check the speed and it's what it should be for me. With my old Power line it was taking twice as long to download some thing at the speed it has. This is a nice upgrade. Resolved my speed problems.Arrived a day earlier than it should have.Had to upgrade the Firmware. If you do yourself you will have to plug in one device to at a time to upgrade them both. Otherwise only one will be upgraded. The software you download from Linksys does all the Firmware upgrade for you, so it's easy to do.Wish I would have bought it a long time ago

Worked For Me
I have had mixed experiences with these devices in the past, problems with crossing circuit breakers mainly and because of that I was a little apprehensive of buying this product. I needed something like this since my computer is to far away from my router to run a wire, without having it drag across my kitchen, and I have had bad experiences with wireless adapters for desktops. At first I could not get it to work since I had both ends plugged into a surge protector but when I took one end and plugged it right into the wall it found the other one almost instantly. So I guess it depends on what kind of surge protector you have, you might have to plug it directly into the wally. But once I did that it found the other one without a problem and so far I am very pleased with it. Very good speeds and it has been reliable so far.

Fiddly setup, partial solution, but finally working
I bought this to extend an existing pair of Powerline Adapters. PLS400/PLE400.The PLS is a four port unit, so I naturally assumed it needed an extra cable on two additional ports of the PLS to give me three usable PLE's. Turns out it doesn't work that way. Not that the documentation or product support offers much help. After much fiddling, downloading software, resetting defaults, etc. reading between the lines, and accidental discovery, I have one extra port. The PLS seems to act somewhat as a hub, so with only the original cable plugged into the PLS, I have one additional PLE operational. Plugging in a second cable to the PLS stops the second PLE from working, for some reason, and adding the third PLE has no benefit, since it never gets an network address. So, I could leave it as is, or set up the second set with a different security code to operate independently from the first set.Either way, I only get one additional port instead of two.For the price, a decent deal.
