Time to give knife sharpening a try
This sharpener was a blast to use! I was nervous about knife sharpening, but got a recommendation to try out the E3 and I have been impressed over the past few weeks. The single angle provided worked great on the 4 main knives I use, which include both a Japanese style and German (Wusthof) knife. I took it on vacation this past week to my folks and also sharpened up their Cuisinart set to a razor edge.Pros:-Small, fit neatly between toaster and Vitamix-Quiet and clean, I didn't see any grit outside the machine on the counter-Easy to get started with quick reference guide-Simple to operate and got sharp on every knife within 2-3 minutes-Removes smaller amount of material than past sharpeners I've used with diamond discs-Includes manual sharpener as bonus, which fits in the knife drawerCons:-Packagig is designed for retail, so a bit overkill for Amazon. But, it was nice and well-protected-Not as flashy or pretty as the $200 model-I started with an old knife to make sure I was doing it right to get the hang of it because it is still powered sharpening-Quick reference guide could be simplifiedI wasn't sure why they included the Bonus sharpener, because the results from the base unit were great. I tried it on one knife and the result was a shaving edge. See picture. A few strokes on each side of the knife and the edge went from cutting peppers thinly to shaving arm hair really well. I'm not sure why somebody would want a knife that sharp, but it's good to know it's possible I gues.I was surprised how well it recovered the oldest knives I own. I had put a few into storage in the back of a closet that didn't go to Goodwill. I got one out to try for fun and in about 10 minutes had completely recovered an old KitchenAid blade that was completely dull. I am impressed with this sharpener. It performs exactly as expected for a high-end sharpener. The unboxing was neat--there is a sleeve and then some white inserts that give the product a unique feel upon opening. T

Now I sharpen with confidence
This sharpener is fool proof. I have tried a couple other sharpeners in my cooking career (and by career I mean as a home chef) and this is the first one that I have tried that I will keep using over and over. It has one sharpening belt (I dont think there are others like this for the kitchen), sharpens at a set angle and has a ceramic honing stick that comes with it. I had a pull through, and it did ok, but it left little metal shavings and the knife edge wasnt very smooth. With the work sharp I can just pick a sharpening speed and follow a couple quick steps to a polished edge and sharp knife. Because it has two speeds, I never have to take off to much metal and its also quick. This sharpener takes guessing out of sharpening, it simple, basic, and quick. I have always known that having a sharp knife was important, but this is the first sharpener that made it simple enough for me to use on a regular basis and call myself a knife sharpener. No more crushed tomatoes or ragged slices of meat for me. Can your knife cut a paper think slice of cucumber? mine can now!

Not good quality for the price.
Right off the bat I noticed a huge issue. The slots you pull the knife through aren't the same left to right. On mine the right side pulled through nicely. The left had a gap only a tiny bit wider but visible to the eye. So when you pull the knife through it falls down lower as you get to the tip. You end up with one side nicely angled abd the other side you'll see less width to the angle on the blade. This is such a simple problem that totally ruins the functionality of the unit. And there is no way to adjust it.129$$ no thanks.Fyi this was a chef's knife. Not some small knife. On a smaller one like a paring knife you'd never be able to get it right.

I’ve searched a long time for a good knife sharpening system
I’ve searched a long time for a good knife sharpening system. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars over the years in failed attempts. Japanese wet stones , oil stones Chef’s Choice, you name it. This well made, simple to use machine, and the accompanying ceramic sharpening rod give me razor sharp knives (literally) with ease. I have a lot of knives. I sharpened them all in an hour. The real surprise: the ceramic rod. Unlike a steel, this actually sharpens! Once you an edge with the machine, this simple device will refine the edge as good or better than a strop, and if you use it every time, will keep your knives like razors for a surprisingly long time! If you care about sharp knives, do yourself a favor and buy this now!

First electric knife sharpener - so easy!
I recently went knife shopping, over time my Wusthof knife set has gone dull and I figured it was time for a replacement. After seeing the cost on just a new chefs' knife, santoku, and paring knife I didn't think it was cost effective to just toss my whole knife set in favor of a new one. My dad uses a Work Sharp on his hunting knives so I knew it was a good brand, upon searching I found this kitchen specific model and pulled the trigger. Within 5 minutes of pulling this out of the box I was sharpening. Not only does this come with a sharpener but there is a ceramic hone to replace the tired old steel that I could never quite get to work well.

Knife sharpening is easy (from someone who didn’t know how)
Wow. I have been neglecting my knives my entire life (I have the metal rod in my knife block, but who knows how that works), and bought this on a whim after reading about it on a blog. I don’t know about angles or steel, but I know every knife I put through this sharpener chops sharper than a bran new knife. Even my friend who owns a food truck was impressed by how sharp my knives were, especially when I told him it only took a couple of minutes (he said he spends 20-30 minutes per knife with a stone... no thanks!).

My 7$ hand held sharpner does a better job than this one
This is a joke. I read the reviews and decided to go for it. Big costly mistake. My 7$ hand held sharpner does a better job than this one. It is cheaply made, not worth it at all. Furthermore it does not sharpen. Do not know what to say about the 5 stars raving reviews. I guess they are entitled to their opinion.Save your money and do not buy it.P.S Cameron, by all means be my guest and buy it. Put your money where your mouth is. I guess you have stock in the company.

Nice edge
Works well for kitchen knives only - approx 17 degree edge. Only one grade of belt included - medium. It would be nice to have a coarse and fine grade belt for better sharpening. You may be better off buying work sharp knife and tool sharpener or the Ken Onion edition. It has more options and it's cheaper. A little more skill required to use it, though.

Great sharpening tool for your Kitchen knives
Great sharpening tool for your Kitchen knives. It sharpens so quickly. It feels like it is solidly made for easy sharpening. This is the best knife sharpener I have seen. The belts make it so easy to use. It is made so well that it takes 2 seconds to change the belts when you need to change the belts to different grids. Well made product.
