Coghlan'S Pin-On Compass

This is a great deal for anyone walking off trail. I pinned my compass on my jacket and looked at it every couple of minutes to correct or confirm my bearings fit a week in the woods. It supplements my use of electronic mapping apps which take time to open and use. Plus the apps are battery hogs. These low tech compasses are totally reliable and great teaching tools to keep the user for getting lost in the woods. I shared the other three with others in our group. Its great bargain that helps avoid a serious incident of someone getting lost in the woods.

out of the box 3 of 4 were reliable i had bur or friction on assembled parts . magnets are inherently true.but a poor bearing will create errors in reading/sluggish poor alignment at the last increment energy very low to complete the swing to direction caveat emptor.Caveat emptor is a Latin phrase that translates to "let the buyer beware." It means that an individual buys at their own risk. Potential buyers are warned by the phrase to do their research and ask pointed questions of the seller. The seller isn't responsible for problems that the buyer encounters with the product after the sale.

Great for quick general direction, help out with GPS travel. They do hang up a bit but are great for when I use a general direction or Gps heading, you only have to stop for a few seconds and then move on.

This was a gift for Christmas and everyone loved them and put them on there hunting clothes so now we can easily see where we want to go and communicate better!

Yes, there are slightly cheaper ones out there. Spend the extra dollar for the confidence in knowing you are headed the right direction.

Seems well constructed. Ordered four… all four point in different directions. Separated the four on a non -metallic surface and they still pointed in four directions. Doesn’t matter if they’re built well if they don’t function. Would not rely on them to navigate from south to north across a cleared twenty acre field. Gave them away to a couple little kids as toys. Too bad… Coghlan generally makes some good products. This is not one of them. Don’t recommend at all.
