I've started making my own bread so this little gadget is great for scoring the dough before baking. Easy to use and great idea

An attractive item that I find easier to use than a more traditional lame. The razor blades are held within the body of the piece and, when the two halves are slightly unscrewed, can be flicked out to present about 15mm of the blade edge. When the halves are screwed fully screwed together they hold the blade very securely and I find it very safe to use.After use the halves can be unscrewed slightly and the blade gently pushed back in between the halves and the whole thing tightened to store the blade securely. It comes with a set of ten blades and a small pouch to keep blades and lame safe and together. I also find it easy to fit new blades into this device which just need to be placed over the central screw. A lot easier than a traditional lame which requires the blade to be flexed under pressure to fit into the handle. Thoroughly recommended.

There is nothing much to this lame: it holds the blade securely and you can hold it easily and safely and get on to the main job: scoring the loaf in as detailed a way as you want.Done with the job, rotate the disks, store the blade away, tighten, and it's safe.You can make one for yourself, or you can buy this small wonder. It's functional and pretty, and quickly becomes indispensable.

Easy to grip and use to score sourdough bread prior to baking. A bit fiddly to open and close around the blade. Blade can be stored inside the case, but need to exercise care to ensure a corner isn’t left protruding to cause a hazard. The pouch enables the tool to be stored without retracting / removing the blade. Fits standard razor blades and therefore easy to get replacements when those supplied have been used.

The product is small and quite fiddly to install a blade safely into it. You have to be careful not to cut yourself. Haven’t tried it on bread yet so I’m not sure whether it performs well but the whole construction feels cheap. More importantly, the photographs and descriptions talk of a leather pouch. What I got was a felt bag as you can see in the photo.

Looks lovely and works well but it is fiddly to get the blade out and secured. Cut myself the first time I used it, so be careful

Unsafe , small for normal hands. It was good if it was possible to fold the blade in after each use
