Works for Late 2016 Macbook Pro to HP LP2475w monitor connection
Works Well to connect a late 2016 MacBook Pro 15" (the Stupid one with the touch-bar and the ridiculously big touch-pad) to an older HP LP2475w Monitor. This monitor, though not matching the ultra-res of the MacBook, is nevertheless an excellent monitor and pleasing to use for hours on end. The Monitor has almost every kind of input (HDMI, DCI, VGA, Display Port). However, the hostile Macbook simply thumbs its nose at you when you try to hook up, say the HDMI monitor input to Apples own ridiculous dongle HDMI adapter. The screen output is horrible...think fingernails on blackboard horrible, like some SVGA nightmare from the late 80's. Never fear..I'll just go direct, sans dongle...smugly, i bought a USB-C to HDMI cable thinking, 'surely, this must work'...nope! (I can hear the evil Macbook cackling), Next, I tried Display Port...denied again!, finally, defeated, in despair, i thought, 'surely, plain 'ol VGA can't be any better...can it?...yes!..VGA works. I blame this one on Apple. No other computer has ever not worked with this monitor.

Unneccesary limitation
This adapter can only support one display at a time. If you attempt to plug in multiple monitors at once, it will disable all but one of them. Only ONE MONITOR may be used at a time with this. The product page DOES make note of this, but it isn't very up front about it and doesn't go into much detail. I bought this under the assumption that the product page was partially incorrect, and that the intended meaning was that only one 4K output could be used at once. That makes perfect sense, but sadly that wasn't the intended meaning. Not to mention that this product page seems to have been replaced from a completely different product, falsely earning 5 star reviews from an entirely different product, making it appear as though it has earned more high reviews than it really has. But I digress.More to the point, while I can own up to buying and paying for something with this limitation listed right in the product page, there's no reason all 4 ports shouldn't be usable at once. The USB 3.1 Standard (Type-C) has enough bandwidth to support at least 2 uncompressed 1080p streams running at 60Hz. With this having Displayport and DVI support, there is the added benefit of compression, so a single USB 3.1 gen 1 adapter should be able to reasonably support 4 1080p 60Hz displays at once. You'd think that a USB Type-C adapter with exactly four ports would support this, but no, it doesn't.I could understand it if this were a physical limitation, but it isn't. It seems to have been a deliberate decision from the manufacturer of this device. Inspecting this device, I have found 3 usable virtual devices on 2 separate busses - one USB 3.0 bus with 10000M bandwidth, and two USB 2.0 buses each with 480M bandwidth. You can actually run a 1080p display output over USB 2.0's limited bandwidth capacity, so surely this device should be able to output 1080p over at least 2 of the ports. The 2 USB2.0 busses notwithstanding, despite announcing itself to have a bandwidth of 10000M, the firmware of this thing seems to disable all but one port on use, despite there being enough bandwidth as reported by the device to handle that much, as I mentioned previously. I suspect there is some level of hardware spoofing involved to masquerade itself as a USB 3.1 device when it really isn't, which would explain why only 1 port is usable at a time.In short, if you're looking for an adapter that can run multiple monitors out of a single USB Type-C port, look elsewhere. It is possible over USB Type-C, but for some reason this device doesn't do the job.

Robust and rugged
Robust and rugged, I have been throwing this into my bag along with my laptop for awhile now and I wanted to review it because of how impressed. Now having to buy a laptop to then use dongles is a little bit of a pain, to say the least. This dongle has lessened the blow, very slimline and works every time, the first time. Very happy.

Not the same product as in the photos, not reversible.
My Lenovo X1 Carbon 6 Gen Windows 10 64bit, does not recognize this as a USB or anything. It just gives an error. Since this was recommended by Amazon, I got it but this is a failure, and I am so disappointed in Amazon suggestions. I will not consider them from now on.Update: Feb-10-2019I called and talked with Amazon representer, and as always they helped me out. Amazon has the best customer service. Originally I tried to reach the seller but got no response, and after I gave them the low score and talked to Amazon, they reached me.Update: Feb-12-2019: I found the issue!I tried the item on a MacBook, and it worked. By trying again on my laptop, I found it working again! Then I switched the connecting port (It is a USB C and is expected to be reversible) and the issue happened again. The strange phenomenon is, once you connect it in the wrong direction, then your USB-C will no longer work until you restart your laptop! I am afraid in those attempts I may have damaged my laptop which is way more expensive than this item.

Works fine as an adapter
Works fine for my needs which was to connect an older 2nd monitor with a DVI hookup to my iMac. My only complaint is that I wish there were connectors that DVI monitor cable could screw into as sometimes it can easily come apart.

Doesn't work
It doesnt work. I've tried it a million different times and nothing. I event paid an IT guy to look at it, just wont connect properly. I had to leave on business and I missed my return window. But it's useless to me now, almost 40 bucks when I could of probably bought a cheap one and it would of worked.

Great product and working as designed.
I bought this specifically to avoid having to keep my Macbook open while remoting into it with Chrome Remote (having it connected to one of monitors even though I don't have the monitor actually displaying anything). Been using this now for a few weeks and it is working just as it should. Very happy with the purchase. No issues at all.
