What a great book! This book makes learning about business fun ...
What a great book! This book makes learning about business fun and exciting - which is exactly what kids need when they're starting out and dreaming big. I've gotten a dozen or so to give out as gifts to my nephews and my cousin's children. Also a great book for high-schoolers and college students as well.

Way, way too basic
Bought it for my daughter, 14, - finally was able to convince her to pick a book and learn . She did it because I asked but said it was too basic ...

Must Read for any Child with Entrepreneurial Aspirations
Adam and Matthew are actual entrepreneurs. They are total gurus in entrepreneurship and have been doing do for longer than most people go to school. They write books for kids they wish were around when they were kids.If your kid is even remotely interested in entrepreneurship to get them this book and the investment will be worth millions if they follow the Toren brother's simple principles.I'm 29 and an entrepreneur but learn from all their books. I give copies to all the children I coach and any youngster with an enthusiasm for creating their own destiny through being an entrepreneur.

Excellent book for kids who want to learn how to start a business
This is an awesome book for kids who want to learn how to start a business! It's written so it's easy for kids to understand but not dumbed down so much that it's silly. My 10-yr-old daughter got excited about the exercises in the book, and it has her thinking of becoming an entrepreneur, which is fantastic!

Translates poorly to the U.K.
If you managed to survive the long tedious introduction, you will already have encountered some sillyness. This include the irresponsible suggestion of washing a dog in machine. When I read the absurd claim that most people believe that most cars will be driveless within 10 years, it became very clear that the authors understand very little about anything. The biggest concern is the push to pursuade children to go it alone. This is fraught with dangers. This book.is written for an American readership. It ignores the highly restrictve trading rules within throughout the U.K. It also ignores the very high likelhood of being destroyed buy competitive forces and other opposition, before you even get started. There is some use of American slang which is poor. The authors make a big deal about being an entrepreneur gives you freedom as to when and where you work. That is pure fantasy. Let's take their cookie buisness example. Where are you going to sell you cookies. Schools cetainly will not allow you to sell them on their premises or when you are in uniform. You won't be able to sell them to retailers, without subjecting your production and distribution to government food inspectors. What might have seemed like a simple idea, will fast become a huge headache. Pet setting is an even worse idea. Try getting insurance for a child taking care of an animal. Sooner or later an animal in your charge will hurt itself, hurt someone else or damage property. One of the first thing suggested, is coming up with an innovative product. This the most difficult kind of buisness to be succesful with and is best avoided. The exception is if you are going to create unique items, such as hand made clothing, artwork, etc.The blurb about the author's confirm what is obvious, which is the that author's clearly don't understand the needs of children. If your sole aim is to write a hypothetical buisness plan then this book is of some use, but it falls a long way short of helping you deal with the real world.

Brilliantly inspiration for kids who want to be entrepreneurs
I like that this book really explains what everything is that is involved in being an entrepeneurs written in easy to grasp ways…. for example in Sales. It says that “Sales” is simply the act of convincing someone to take an action. So anyone can be a Salesperson. It can even be convincing a parent to by you an ice cream or getting a customer to buy a product. This is a snippet of the advice in this book. it is very helpful I reckon for an adult, teen or young person who wants to take more control over their career destiny. It is written in language best for young kids so as not to intimidate.A physically small book, like a notebook so not intimidating.Inside the contents are eight projects and a summing up with words of encouragement.Project 1: Get down to BasicsProject 2Find your big ideaProject 3 Make a PlanProject 4 Know what to do with your shiny new business planProject 5 Budget for successProject 6Plan your marketingProject 7 Set up ShopProject 8 Service 101Words of encouragement and a GlossaryA very good book for anyone to start them off on this topic. (I am hoping to spark interest in grandchildren so they can make plenty of money and keep me a comfy older age).

A good introduction to entrepreneurship for the young and young-at-heart...
I’m a big fan of this series of books, made by the people who make the For Dummies books. This book covers topics you’d find in a book for adults, but they are explained in a child-friendly way. For example, the case studies of businesses centre on the making of cupcakes and homemade bracelets. The reader is regularly reminded to ask for their parents’ permission, for example, when intending to pin their business plans to the wall.I know nothing about business, but the advice here seems sensible and sound. This book covers: the basics of entrepreneurial success, how to find your big idea, how to make a plan (and what to do with it once you’ve created it), budgets, marketing, product or service delivery and customer service. It finishes with some words of encouragement and a glossary. Throughout the book there are engaging icons, eye-catching images and spaces for the reader to write their answers to open-ended questions.Necessarily, this book can only offer an introduction to the subject of entrepreneurship, but it’s a good place to start if you're a beginner - whatever your age may be.

USA-centric book written by brothers. It's okay.
I echo the comments made by Prof TBun in https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/customer-reviews/R1XSRS4I7BKAXW/ about it being US-centric.This book is quite interesting, and readable, with bright yellow highlighting and lots of sub-headings.It's written by two brothers and it's kind of cheesy — it concludes with "You Are Awesome!", which is patently false. I am not awesome! Neither are most readers. They're very ordinary. The book's not really realistic about the cut-throat business world. It talks about successes like Amazon and Google — who let's be fair, haven't exactly traded on a level-playing field. (Google and Amazon have handy tax arrangements that the rest of us aren't privy to.) That said, perhaps I'm being harsh? this is a book for *children* after all. There's tonnes of really obvious stuff in here — like "give good service" and "be polite". Well duh. Some of it is really trite — for example there's a picture with an ancient 1980s computer next to a MacBook Air, the reader is asked which they prefer. Well duh. (They were illustrating that businesses adapt over time.)I have mixed feelings about this book. It's readable and informative, but it's also cheesy and boring in parts. But I suppose you need to learn about the boring stuff to run a business!
