Ben Franklin Toys Geology Lab Pad Science Kit

Bought this toy for my nephew for when he comes over to play at my house.... he's 6 years old. But I have to say it's a lot more than a toy. It's kind of a fun way of learning about rocks, volcanoes, crystals, and geology.Wow, is the first thing you think when it all comes out of the box. it's pretty amazing how much stuff you get. There's a rock collecting kit, rock digging block with gems and minerals hidden inside that you have to chip away to get at, and there's a Volcano erupting kit.All the stuff is nicely fit into the green lab pad that comes with the toy for storage and doubles for the place to do all the activities like digging out the gems and setting off the Volcano.Speaking of the Volcano, it's not one of those cheap paper mache tubes, it's a real plastic volcano that you can use over and over.I've taken a picture of all the activities and some look like he can do on his own but there's a couple that will need my help, can't wait till he comes over!Here's some pictures so you can see the stuff that comes in the box.

This was a total rip off, there were NO ROCKS included, just a block of empty chalk with NOTHING IN IT! I literally crushed the block into dust, nothing. There were supposed to be 12 gems/geology rocks inside for kids to excavate and find, all we got was a pile of dust and no rocks. Very upset child and very angry parents.I can't return it because I pulverized it, right? How do you return that? It's a consumable science project, except when we did our science, there was nothing there to examine. Product is made in China.We deserve a refund. I spent good money for NOTHING, literally. Fix this Amazon!

Bought this for my 9 yo niece for her bday and her mom sent me pics of her finding the rocks. Mom did send a pic of a huge mess on the couch from breaking the slab, but its meant to be done on the pad not on the couch 😬. Niece had a blast and I would totally get it again.

This is a great gift for a boy or girl that is interested in Geology. Bought this Science kit for a neighbor and he loves it. Recommend it for age 7 and 8.

Son loved it especially the part where you dig out the rocks. Nice high quality items, very sturdy. I wish it had more experiments, but overall a very nice set. Very nice quality.

This was a gift for my 7 yr old Grandson. I wasn't there when he opened it but his father said it was a great kit for young rockhounds. The 5 is based on their responses.
