In my opinion, an album that has to grow on you
The first time I listened to this album, I enjoyed a couple songs but the rest kind of put me to sleep. The second time I popped it in, I liked it better than I did the first time but still would've only given it 4 stars because it seemed uneven. After the 3rd listen, something just clicked and I enjoyed "Bloodsport" for what it is. It doesn't evoke the old Sneaker Pimps sound much but it's different direction definitely sounds great. There's some acoustic guitar in here like the prior albums before it, but the sound here is rooted more in rock and electronic music. The gloomy trip-hop vibe isn't the driving force here but it's definitely embedded in the fabric of the music.Chris Corner isn't the only vocalist on this album also, there are multiple female guest vocalists in songs. While none of them could ever measure up to their original vocalist Kelli Alli, their deliveries are still very effective on the songs they're in.The Sneaker Pimps actually progressed musically here on some levels; at times it's hard to believe it's the same band that made "Becoming X". This album isn't as good as "Becoming X" or "Splinter" but it deserves 5 stars because it's still a great album even if it's not what you'd expect completely from the band.Fans of the early days might like a couple songs on this or might not like it at all because of the new musical direction or maybe they're still hung up on the fact that Kelli isn't the lead singer anymore. I would tell those people give this a chance like I did and you'll discover that there's a lot of good here if you keep an open mind.If you're new to the band, don't start here. Start with "Becoming X" and move forward from there.hope that helps

Holy Cow, Coop!
I'm impressed. Sounds a bit like their last album Splinter + Depeche Mode + late Bowie + Tricky if you mixed all that up in a blender. Now, if they just integrated some crunching experimental electric guitar stuff it'd probably represent all the music I listen to! True, Kelly Dayton/Ali isn't on this, but if you'd read my other []reviews you'd see this absence has its good points and its bad. They may have foolishly kicked her out for hogging the limelight, but she now has the opportunity to release a solo album: Tigermouth, due out very soon. My biggest problem is that the guys kept the name rather than just using 'Line of Sight' or one of the other studio names they go by, because it really doesn't even sound like the same band and only serves to upset a lot of people who were expecting Kelli's vocals. I suppose it's for marketing reasons: who wants to start from scratch again, you know? So far, the only songs that don't completely do it for me are the totally Splinter-derivative "Black Sheep" and the odd "Blue Movie", which has interesting production care of Flood yet still falls short stylistically for me. Single-worthy tracks: Kiro TV, Loretta Young Silks, The Fuel, and Grazes, with those cool Tricky-backupsinger-like female vocals.

A great band and a CD at a great price
I have been trying to find this CD at an affordable price for years. All great things eventually make their way to Amazon.

Good follow up
Since the last CD I was waiting anxiously for the next recording from Sneaker Pimps. After maturing from the lightweight sound of Becoming X the Pimps came up with a modern music masterpiece in Splinter. How do you top that? You don't. Bloodsport is a great effort and clearly better than most music out these days. I always shake my head when I read reviews comparing a band to someone else. In the comparison to Depeche Mode I must say, it's pretty accurate. Bloodsport uses alot more of the standard electro pop rhythms although the textures are cleverly mixed. I still need to give this a few more listens but Loretta Young Silks stands out so far as my favorite song. Some positive and negatives: the female vocals on several tracks do nothing for those songs. Corner's voice is so unique and well suited for this music it should be left without the addition of other voices. Corner does begin to stretch out a little more vocally but the lyrics are no where near as emotional and intricate as Splinter. This album will keep the Sneaker Pimps exactly where they are, pretty much unknown and underrated. Still, really good music.

It aint no Splinter
I love the Sneaker Pimps and their brooding sound. This album does leave one wanting more in the emotional current department, but the overall collection of songs is good.

Grintoso e coinvolgente.
