Advice to Little Girls

This is an amazing book. i purchased 3 and i couldn't be happier with my purchase. I bought one for my own daughter (well I bought it for me really, if truth be told) and one for each of my God daughters. Their mothers will delight in it now and i hope, one day (if they can possibly part with them), that their daughters will to be just as thrilled with the content.I loved reading this book, and even though its only their first birthdays - I hope that this book will be the cornerstone of their collection when they are adults. The illustrations are amazing and the text is a classic.The nicest surprise was the books finish - the textured binding gives it a beautiful retro feel.If you've got a daughter and you love Mark Twain- then this is the book for you

I came upon this quite by accident on Amazon and it just looked like something I had to have. It is all I wanted in it, other than I wish Mark Twain could autograph it for me. THe sayings are perfect and tongue in cheek like Twain was. The illustrations make you feel that you have purchased an original old book. I love the illustrations and the way the publisher put the book together. I feel like it is a book of value for me to have on my bookshelf. I rated it a 5 Star because it was exactly what I expected, quirky, funny, intriguing and a glimpse into Mark Twain's thoughts.

This is a delightful reprint of Mark Twain's written in 1865.My 8 year old granddaughter found the old fashioned words needed some translation and this added to her and my enjoyment of this book. Mark Twain encourages little girls to think independently rather than blindly obey rules and social mores. I my search for more information I discovered Mark Twain is his pen name, real name is Samuel Clemens. This book is a must for people who are interested in women's rights and other gender issues purely for the whimsy ness a delightful book both visually and the content

i purchased this work and another for one of our grand children--the other book was a book by joyce--i buy books like these above mentioned--because i feel that these two writers just might pique the interest of the younger reader as well--i also have been known to have slipped a few of dahl's works under their noses as well--for they--to me, anyway--seem to make the ricketty bridge between child and adult a little easier to travel--i hope so

...and lack of sweetness is just right for this realistic, although brief series of exhortations to girls little and larger. The book could be even more appealing if it were longer, but what it does offer is appropriate today as much as it was in Twain's day. The illustrations are delightful, too.

I bought this for a grown up girl because it was a book I wish I could have given her when she was young. This is a book for especially bright and sensitive and artistic girls as it won't spoil them. But don't give it to a spoiled brat or you are in for a lot of trouble! LOL!!!

Delighted. Who knew that Mark Twain wrote such a charming little book. Gave as a gift to a father of 2 young precocious girls!

I bought this for my 28 year old daughter. Young children will not understand it. I wish it was little longer. The blog were I discovered it had nearly the entire book on it. I could have just sent her the blog.

By the time I got this book, it had cost about 24.50 euro, to Ireland. I had ignored the 2 star review posted on Amazon, reckoning anything of Mark Twains' would be well worth having. I was wrong. There is virtually no content in this book. There are drawings, but, of no exceptional quality or addition to the very few quotes of Mark Twain himself. I bought this as a gift for a young girl, and am very disappointed.

Delightful illustrated book, perfect as a gift, either to a young girl or yourself. The drawings are beautiful and the contents are wonderfully cartoon like.
