Great paper alternative, made from calcium carbonate
After hearing about terraskin rock paper from a watercolorist friend, I decided to try this paper, which is also made from calcium carbonate. I love it!! I've tried it with colored pencils, pastels, watercolor, graphite pencil, ink, liquid acrylic, Neocolor I and II crayons, and gouache, and tried layering different media, like pencil and ink over watercolor washes. It is really awesome. The paper is very durable and smooth and handles wet and dry media equally well. It is somewhat absorbent, but not nearly as much as traditional watercolor paper. I was surprised by the way it took pastels, and the watercolor washes are amazing. This pad, 11 x 14, is 160 lb., a heavier weight than the smaller pads, which are 100 lb. I've also used mineral spirits to blend the colored pencils. I have not used heat or alcohol ink, so I cannot comment on that. It is definitely worth trying! I think this may turn out to be my favorite art paper.

Very fun paper to use
This is wonderful paper to paint on with watercolors or alcohol ink. I love to experiment on it. I highly recommend it to artists to try it. I have made really fun cards and tags with it that came out beautifully. It cuts nicely and you can use double sided thin tape to cut it easily and attach it to paper and it looks beautiful on cards. It is a lot of fun to use.

Very Pleased
I’m only a casual artist, and I’ve only tried this with watercolor so far. I’m very pleased with the results. This paper appears to be immune to the buckling issues experienced with other watercolor papers. It is also much easier to correct mistakes. I’ve been pleased with Yasutomo products and this paper is no exception. I also do Oriental brush painting and this paper appears to work equally well with both Oriental and Western painting styles.

Thin like yupo
I don’t like or dislike, it’s just different. I suppose I am mired traditional in what I like to use with watercolor. It does not buckle which is great. It does tear if you try to tear it. Great for collage work.
