The small pieces have a cardboard base that folds easy. Take your time putting it together.

Very cute decorations!
Overall these were great for the space themed 1st birthday party I threw for my son. My only issue was the adhesive wasn't super strong and they started to come apart but adding a piece of tape was an easy fix so it really wasn't an issue. They are about 8 inches tall and looked great as decorations for the tables. I would recommend them!
