Best bang for your buck and DIY in Electric Retractable Awnings.
Let start with our likes. Bob Villa (This Old House) recommends a lot of products, he hasn't let us down yet-this awning was on his list. It is well made, comes with all the installation parts-which doesn't require much. Is aesthetically pleasing, providing shade space, and a tilt down option, great for people who are yard workers, or just want to enjoy being outside. Delivery came by air /freight faster than expected, and was doubled boxed. The color of the awning was misleading, suppose to be gray w/yellow stripe. Actual color gray w/yellow-orange. Our back screen door- cedar w/burnt orange stain, which works. The remote control is also a bonus. We would deifinitely recommend this product.

Excellent Quality and Value for Money.
Did quite a bit of research. Certainly paid off this time. Customer service was excellent as was shipping communication. Product arrived on time and was in a very sturdy set of packaging.Followed the install video and found bracket placement very straightforward, no issues. Brackets (3) took about an hour to install once studs were located. If there is a key it is to find the studs and to make sure end brackets are within a foot of ends to avoid braces on awning mounting brackets. Otherwise son helped to actually mount the awning which was done in less that 10 minutes. The bracket design aids in easy install.Operation of the awning is smooth and very quiet. This is perhaps on the costlier side as self install awnings go but having seem cheaper products, the quality of materials and ease of installation are exceptional and IMO a good investment since this will get a lot of use. Equally there are so called "top of the line" awnings that are installed by regional contractors. Having seen those as well I truly cannot see that they are better quality. If you view the video and are comfortable with finding studs, a drill and a level, this is an easy install IMO.Will circle back to update after a summer of use.

So Far so good
So far, it's a great awning. We installed the 16' X 10' model. Installation was straight-forward but not trivial. It is critical to make sure that you screw the lag screws directly in to the center of the studs. I was able to measure exactly where the studs were from inside the garage. I would be leery about relying on a stud finder to find the exact center of a stud. The brackets are heavy duty and it's a good thing because there will be a lot of load on them with a 16' awning in even the slightest breeze. My only concern about this awning is the load on the three brackets. I would have felt better if there were four or even five brackets to support it. The awing appears to be made of quality materials and weighs about 120 lbs. I can't think of any reasonable way to install it on the brackets without having two people to hoist it up. The awning is exactly what we needed to provide shade for our car. I would like to have seen a recommended wind speed (in MPH) that this awning can safely handle before it needs to retracted. There is no wind speed (in MPH) listed in the manual that I can find. Also, there is no wind speed sensor available from the manufacturer that would automatically retract the awning if the wind got too high. So, I will now be glued to to the daily weather forecast or maybe will put up my own anemometer (yippee, another project).

Well designed and priced hundreds below the competition.
The design and quality of the fabric and framework are second to none. Once you properly mount the three brackets to your wall, the rest is simply lift the awning into the mounts and you're good to go. I bought the 16 foot long motorized version with remote control.

Easy installation and works out-of-the-box
I got the 16x10 unit and installation was very easy with 3 people and 3 ladders (could be done with 2 people and 2 ladders I believe). I like that the power cord is long enough, even with a 10+ ft. installation height over our deck. Unit came fully assembled which was extremely helpful and made installation a breeze. One note: do NOT watch the installation videos found here and online, they have nothing to do with this product which is far simpler to install than the ones in the videos (no assembly of the unit is required).

Well built
Color matches house perfect. Time will tell if it holds up to the dampness and weather here in Delaware. Very pleased so far! Great customer service.

Remote control built very cheaply doesn’t work
The awning seems to be good easy installation but the remote control for the awning is very poorly made. The battery is loose in the remote and the only way it works is if you squeeze hard on the battery compartment and then push remote buttons.**UPDATE**. Advanning was very helpful in sending me a new remote. Had issues syncing it to the awning. They sent a third remote, no luck. They sent out a new awning out which then worked fine. All took awhile, I notice that multiple awning companies use this same remote , which I still think is poorly made. But I must admit advaning went the extra mile to help solve the problem.
