Really enjoyed this book
It was so interesting to read how Bethany faded to the poets Dickinson and Frost when thing got dicey as a way to process situations and emotions. I loved it and thought it was a great character trait and illustrated Bethany's emotions and state of mind so well. Secondly i love how the author used the concept of a jolt as the reaction Bethany has in response to her interactions with Ali and the way Bethany speaks of how her emotions are building to the point where she tells herself to prepare for the jolt she gets when she is overcome with her feeling for Ali. Dickinson and Frost as almost secondary characters in this book was brilliant and relatable as we all have that place of comfort we fade to in many circumstances and as Bethany is a writer this makes perfect sense.

Overall solid work
At this point, I've read a good amount of books in this genre and I think I have read all of Bryant's published works to date. This was her debut and I actually think this was my favorite Bryant novel yet. The excitement and energy between the leads is great and it's a fun book to get lost in. My only negative points are I felt the book just abruptly ended, some type of closure paragraph or two would have been nice. The constant internal dialogue with "authors" was also a little heavyhanded, I get it was to show she is introspective but I ironically found myself tuning those parts out and skipping them. The final thing that bugged me was, did Ali ever even read any of Beth's work? She said she is an avid reader, but the only person who comments on reading Beth's work is Ali's sister, it just seemed weird to me it wasn't a point in the dialogue.Overall, a good read, pretty heavy on the steamy stuff, but a strong start for Bryant.

A simple touch from THE ONE makes your heart Jolt.
Ali touches Bethany from the first moment their eyes meet. Ali is a beautiful singer that Beth can't believe would even notice her. At first Beth thinks Ali has a girlfriend and is off limits. They waste a lot of time and many long looks that they both feel. Once they finally talk they realise they both have relationship issues but that jolt is just too powerful. This is a very romantic, almost old fashion love story between two women unable to get into their hearts. The journey they take to share their hearts is sweet but requires a different sharing. The distance they live from each other challenges them to share more openly. Kris Bryant writes the dialogue so brilliantly. You feel the ache of time apart, the sheer joy of those tender moments and the hot, steamy love and breathtaking touch they have for each other. When a moment of surprise turned into a hurtful rejection my heart broke and I healed my breath till they could talk again. I love openly honest stories that bring women together in such deep love. A must read that fill the heart.

Love Love This Book!
I am so sad that I am finished reading Jolt. It captivated me from the beginning. I read certain parts over and over just to experience their story again. I loved the emotion that Ms Bryant showed in Beth and Ali through their dialogue and Beth's private thoughts. The angst was palpable and I was enjoying every minute. Their chemistry was off the charts and we were rewarded with sizzling love scenes. I am beginning to think that Ms. Bryant is my favorite love scene writer... Whew!!*MILD SPOILER*- The scene where the "misunderstanding" takes place is so raw and well written it took my breath away. I love how Ms Bryant describes how Beth is feeling and how she is responding to Ali's attempts to speak to her. I especially love the visual of Ali sliding down the wall with her face in her hands. It truly captures the desperation that AlI is feeling.I just love Beth and Ali's romance...True Love!! This is my kind of book and Ms Bryant is an amazing storyteller. Thank you for a wonderful reading experience!! I will be reading this book again and again! Go KC Royals.

Lightening Does Strike...It’s Called Jolt
Intense. That is THE word for this book. There is no more exciting time as the first 3 months of a new lesbian relationship. Especially one where you fall in love at first sight. As this book is written in first person, I felt I was transformed back. In so many ways. To the newness and elation in being involved in a new relationship. Kris does a remarkable job of keeping you deeply implanted in Bethany’s mind as she goes through the highs and lows of allowing herself to fall in love...and acknowledge she was in love from day-one. Jolt isn’t just the title...it’s also the theme of the book. You know, the Jolt you get when your struck by lightening. If you’re in search of that excitement in your life...definitely give this book a go.

In one word...Excellent.
What I love most about reading romance books are the feelings that they can evoke inside of me. Sometimes when I read a story I find myself getting bored and knowing where the character is going to go before I actually read what happens. I feel a bit cheated when I don’t become lost in the story and I continue to long for that vicarious rush. Well let me tell you, none of that negative stuff happened when I read Kris Bryant’s Jolt. Her book sucked me in and wouldn’t let go. I morned the loss when I had to set it aside to do the mundane things in life such as going to work and eating a meal. Doing dishes, be damned, I had a book to read.Jolt was almost everything you could ever want in a romance, the rush of attraction, the burden of past baggage, the angst and….well anyway you get the picture. My only wish, and I hope Kris will fulfill my wish, is that since it was written beautifully in first person…well…couldyouwriteanotherbookandshowtheothercharacter’spointofview? phew. If you write it I will buy it.

Didn’t ‘Jolt’ me...
I’m clearly in the minority and so be it, but I found this quite dull. I couldn’t relate to either of the MC’s; awkward Bethany with her first person present tense narration and inner conversations with long dead poets, or ridiculously gorgeous rock star Ali. The PWP (plot, what plot?) was incredibly formulaic - they meet, they fall in love (but don’t admit their mutual feelings), they have amazing sex, they break up, then they make up, confess their feelings and have more amazing sex. It wasn’t completely awful - the writing was at least competent - hence the 3 stars - but I’m hoping my next ‘take a chance and spend more than a couple of quid on a book’ is better...

A cracking read
Another great book from an author who isnow, most definitely, in my favourite authors list.Funny, laugh out loud, endearing, charming and flowing storyline. Funny one liners and it’s clever how the title is incorporated throughout the book.Beth’s character is really believable, incorporating vulnerability and insecurity in a very real way that is very relatable and realistic. The chemistry between Beth and Ali is excellent and Kris Bryant certainly knows how to write great sex scenes, which were explosive and HOT!I think this is my favourite Kris Bryant book that I’ve read to date but they are all excellent reads. Thanks Kris!

POOR
Didn't really grab me, not great writing and the story barely moved along. Characters ok but did not make me care much about what happened to them.

So Good!
I really enjoyed this book. Kris Bryant really made Bethany a believable character, complete with quirks and neurotic tendencies but manages to balance her out with sex appeal, good looks and tenderness. Great balance of story and love scenes - passionate and a style of writing I much prefer over some of the more hard, predatory scenes in other books.

Enjoyed
A really enjoyable read. I wasn't expecting much more than a simple romance but the book pleasantly surprised me. Beth's awkwardness could have been irritating if it wasn't for the fact I'm absolutely the same way, so I could forgive that.I'll look forward to more books by this writer.
