Was: "Ok door sensors, poor temp sensor" Now: "dead!"
Update: After about 8 months in service, this sensor has failed, it no longer transmits its status. I tried changing the battery and that does not help. The unit has a small led inside that shows its status and lights up when in inclusion mode, this light also just stays dark. This unit is dead.Original review: Bought this product because it also measures temperature, but the temperature response time makes that feature of this sensor useless, it might not report the temperature at its location even though another sensor that I have there fluctuates up and down 5 to 10 deg Fahrenheit. The sensor is also already reporting that it's battery is down to 80% even though it has only been on service for less than a week.

OK but has a major defect that seems to be ignored by manufacturer
I 'd give this a better rating if they would fix the defect that is know to them. Seems when you open and close the part the holds the battery more than once or twice it does not snap in far enough and thus the sensor shows a tamper state. I was able to fix but I should not have had to do it!

Happy with this purchase
I decided to give the Dome Door Sensor Pro a chance despite no online reviews, but someone has to go first so here goes! Why: I have both a Wink Hub and SmartThings Hub at home, and wanted to find a door sensor with a slim profile that would work with either product as I’m always experimenting at home and moving things around. I’ve been actively considering the Dome DMWD1 which has some positive reviews, but I saw on Dome’s website that there was a newer DMDP1 which had a lower price point and also claimed a 10-year battery life. I decided to purchase two – for my front entry door, and for my rooftop hatch.Hardware: This feels like a quality piece of gear. It’s my very first sensor so I don’t have any other products to compare to. It uses a single ER14505 3.6V battery (AA size), which I’m not familiar with.SmartThings Setup: Installation was smooth and easy. Dome has an outstanding product installation guide that made it very simple. Simply log into the ST Developer Portal, add a new Device Handler, pull the battery pull-tab, and add the device in ST. All in all this took less than 3 minutes. I tested first just a couple of feet from my ST hub to make sure that the sensor was correctly reading opens and closes, and I was impressed with how fast and responsive it was. Also Dome’s documentation is outstanding, other manufacturers could learn a thing or two from how well Dome documents their advanced technical manual.UI: Easy and intuitive. It displays the temperature, tamper alarm, pending changes, and there’s a refresh button. The settings give you the ability to configure an enable/disable the LED indicator, report closed when magnet is open or closed, temperature reporting, temperature offset, temperature units, checkin intervals, and tamper status. It defaulted to Fahrenheit, so initially when I set this to Celcius it gave a strange reading (like -30 C or something like that), but it quickly corrected itself when it received the correct temperature reading a few moments later. I wish the refresh button would give some visual feedback when I press it, but I don’t know if that’s a function of ST or of the Device Handler.Install: Physical install onto my two doors was very simple, the double sided 3M sticky tape was very effective. My sensor on the rooftop hatch worked immediately, and I quickly had a routine setup in ST to activate my GE Z-Wave Outdoor Switch to turn on and off my rooftop string lights. Very impressed with the response time, it was near immediate. However when I installed onto my front door, I was getting intermittent issues where the sensor would remain in an open state and I was seeing some red lights, so I worked with support and they suggested I put add a repeater. I put a Leviton Plug-In outlet about 15 feet away and it was quickly resolved. On that note, when I opened a case online with support they were fast, friendly and responsiveBattery: Dome claims a 10 year battery life, and 8 years with temperature sensor. I really want to believe this. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt for now but time will tell. I’ve only had the sensors installed for 3 days now, and I should note that I’ve seen the battery life on the sensors report back anywhere from 80-100%. Support explained to me that “The reason for the battery status errors is the Lithium Chloride chemistry used in the battery. The voltage can drop a bit when it's being opened and closed but it recovers after some time.”. I’ll accept that explanation, and I’ve seen both batteries reporting 100% now consistently after a couple of days.Temperature Sensor: Both sensors are reporting accurate readings. In summary, Dome makes a solid product, I’ve since ordered another two. It’s only been 3 days, but I’m optimistic with this purchase.

Kinda Worked
Installed the Dome Door Pro Sensor on my Domoticz automation system. It was difficult because the included cell is bad. Reads 3.66V until 40mA load then reads 2.6V. The cell in a hard to get ER14505 lithium and expensive 4-12 dollars each depending on how many you buy. Supposed to last 10 years, but I find that claim dubious at best.I was able to use my DC power supply to test the device which does work ok. Testing showed 40mA when transceiving and 1 microAmp at rest. Impressive 1" separation to activate the reed switch with the included magnet. It is somewhat slow to send signals in my testing. I bought it to put on my mailbox for alerts when the mail arrives. It is 40' from the front of my house and about 50' through a wall to the zwave controller. I had to buy a replacement cell for 8.47 locally to make it work. It will require a repeater or other device to work at the mailbox as I intended. It took several tries to get it to include correctly. Had to do a "Heal Node" to get it to show all the parameters. It defaults to 2hr wakeup schedule. The seller was helpful in offering a replacement cell, but it will take days to arrive. We'll see how it goes....Update Apr 2020: Seller did provide a replacement cell of the wrong type. Then refunded the price I paid for a replacement (XL-060F) cell. I did not use it for a long time because I did not have a device to repeat the signal. I've been using it for several months now and the cell is already dead. Lithium chemistry is very unreliable using voltage as cell charge indicator. It reads (the second one) 3.7V no-load and 2.4V with-load. I don't use the temperature sensor to conserve cell life. I do have it check in ever hour. The newer version of Domoticz (2020.1) does not use devices until they check-in. It is very annoying and requires frequent update schedule which kills the cell or battery.

Works w/WINK hub2 (but not Temperature sensor) and has poor range and battery life
Pros:Works with WINK hub 2 as a binary door/window switchVery strong magnet in a very slim/small mountCons:Temperature sensor DOES NOT work with WINK Hub 2Battery is a non-popular Lithium battery (14555); they all indicate bad on battery testers; expensive.Battery life is short/inconsistent.Range is poor.Cover is difficult to open/remove requiring something to push the button to replace the battery. The EcoLink (DWZWAVE2.5-ECO) has better range, uses CR123 battery & has internal terminal to connect switches (e.g. mercury).I have two Dome sensors that are offline due to range/distance and/or battery issues that I will be replacing with EcoLink (DWZWAVE2.5-ECO).

Arrived with low Battery
Could not get this to pair with my gen5 Z-Stick. Z-Stick started pairing, then quickly exited with a red flash (not normal). DMDP1 then acts like it is paired, but Z-Stick acts as if it isn’t. DMDP1 was acting odd though, with odd flashing of led’s, and led flickering.Having read the reviews here I suspected a dud battery, and luckily I had pro-actively ordered spares along with the sensor. After replacing the battery (the battery fit is very poor), and performing factory reset, the sensor paired with the Z-Stick first time. The sensor now works correctly. I remains to be seen how reliable it proves to be.So be aware, you will likely need a replacement battery out of the box.
