Excellent quality but the product quantity info needs to be corrected.
This is a very good quality Cactus and succulent potting mix. I highly recommend it as my succulent garden is thriving. However, you don’t get a whole lot. In the details it’s says 1.5 quarts, but in the labelling under each choice it says 4 gallons, 8 gallons etc… even if one bag ( you get 4) is 1.5 bags x4, that’s no where close to 4 gallons.

Magic soil
So these two jades were languishing in another cactus mix. I usually make my own mix using coir, perlite, bark, and maybe pumice or zeolite. But for some reason, it just wasn’t helping these cuttings, and I am pretty good at rooting pretty much anything. I finally broke down and ordered this mix I had been eyeing for a while. It is kind of like magic lol. It’s just light and fluffy and clean and pretty and lovely, everything a mix aspires to be but never truly becomes. This stuff rooted these jades lightening fast and made them fat and pretty. Mind you, the ones in the photo are in need of watering—so imagine how much better they will look after the watering. I also used this on various other succulents and regular houseplants. It wins every time. So something you might want to know: there is a bit of a learning curve with this mix if you are not a coco coir user. I use only coir, and I’ve used every possible grade of it from fine to croutons, and I struggled at first a bit. The consistency and texture is just like nothing I’ve ever felt before. It’s super fine and soft like cotton almost. But it holds a LOT of water, and the difference between this stuff wet and dry is pretty profound. It can be hard to translate in your head how much to use dry because once it’s wet, the consistency changes. And it never feels wet! It is like someone took a sponge made out of silk, crushed it up into fine pieces, and added some teeny little particles like stones and perlite. You can water it forever and not drown the plant —UNLESS YOU REALLY COMMIT TO IT. And even then, you’d have to bring a lunch. I can’t offer any advice other than trial and error and reading up on coir. But I do know this mix is excellent and so worth the effort. I wish they would sell more at a time so I could just take out a loan and buy a bushel. I hate to use it because I know it will run out soon. Anyway, it’s an expense I’m adding to my Plant Wellness Fund, and I’m buying it as it is in triple orders. Highly recommended:).

Good mix with fertilizer balls, not fungus gnat eggs
I see a lot of reviews saying the fertilizer balls are gnat eggs. They're not. I used these all these months and have not had an infestation. Think about it. The gnats are so small, how are they going to lay eggs that are 2-3mm in diameter? Yes the fertilizer balls have liquid in it. I'm not sure if others have had gnats in their bags but mine didn't come with any. I'll say I have a black thumb with succulents so it's not Fat Plants fault at all. For spider plants, I use 1 part this and 1 part Jacks gritty mix and they're all happy. I have 1 jade plant in the same mix and it's currently surviving. I will warn they do hold water well. Not as bad as Miracle Gro potting mix. Enough to be okay for succulents? I don't know since I said I have a black thumb with them. But the fertilizer balls are NOT fungus gnat eggs. ---- Update April 7 2025 All are doing well in this mix provided that you use 1 part succulent mix and 1 part perlite or 1 part gritty mix. I use terra cotta pots for all spider plants and succulents. and all have been doing great. I'm no longer killing succulents :')

Pros and cons but overall positive
Pros: Using this my snake plant starting to bloom which is rare for snake plants. Majority of my plants like it. Cons: However my prayer plants and dragon trees aren't likely it much and are adjusting still. However that's not on the company when using new potting mix I've always had to let my plants adjust to it. Also I didn't know how they would react to the fertilizer that this soil has that exceeds those plants needs. Overall not company's problem. Con:#2 This potting mix holds moisture wayyyyyyyy longer than expected, way better than most other potting mixes. So WATER SPARINGLY because that water will be around for a while. Some have noticed white mold and I did as well for only 1 of my mango sprouts and that's with water sparingly because I knew they wouldn't like to sit in moist soil. I use a solution of 1 part hydrogen provide to 15 parts water to deal with it the moment i seen it and haven't seen anymore of it. I don't know the reason for the mold for that one as I ever sterilized the soil prior to using it and was being reserved on watering. But I haven't seen mold on my other 13 plants so 93% chance of no mold is pretty good. Over all great mix, created rare plants blooms, low 7% chance of mold (at least for me) but still a possibility even with controlled conditions. Plants may have to adjust to it as is the case with all mixes. Be light on the watering, you don't want to throughly water the plant to the point of it coming out the bottom of the bottom because it holds moisture super well. Lastly mix has slow release 18-6-12 (3-1-2) fertilizer and worm casting which should feed it through the growing season.
