From Booklist Taking place mere minutes after the cliff-hanger ending of Taking Eve (2013)—the first in prolific and best-selling Johansen’s new trilogy featuring forensic sculptor Eve Duncan—the second opens with Eve on the run from her diabolical captor, Jim Doane, in the wilds of the isolated Colorado Rockies. As wolves howl and frigid night temperatures descend, Eve’s struggle to survive pits her against nature’s deadliest elements while Doane constructs an elaborate trap to ensnare both Eve and Zander, a lethal assassin with a surprising interest in Eve’s welfare. Her plight has rallied a coterie of both old friends and new allies, who join Eve’s lover, Detective Joe Quinn, and their daughter, Jane, to marshal forces both supernatural and mortal to come to Eve’s rescue. Building to a shocking conclusion, Johansen’s paranormal suspense thriller will have fans of Eve’s exploits clamoring for the trilogy’s final installment, Silencing Eve (due out in October 2013), to learn of Eve’s ultimate fate. HIGH-DEMAND BACKSTORY: So avid are Johansen’s fans, a 300,000 print run is planned, backed by a national tour and an all-out, diversified advertising campaign on television, various websites, and social media. --Carol Haggas Read more Review “Gripping . . . Most unbelievable of the series
I have been a long-time reader of Eve Duncan and her family and friends. This book brings all of them together in a quest to find Eve, who has been once-again kidnapped. Forensic sculptures are much in demand, I guess... The talents of the group (mind communication with animals, FBI agent, mind reading, and her artist daughter) are needed to find Eve before the United States faces an imminent terrorist attack of massive proportions. Of course, Jane, Eve's artist daughter, threatens FBI officer Venables into not reporting this danger to the authorities because she wants time to personally find her mother and stop the attack. And of course, Venables agrees. That alone was enough to warrant the two stars. In this day and age, that would just not happen and it dropped the story into more of an implausible zone than these books usually fall. Yet, if you follow this series and the antics of Eve and her various acquaintances, you will want to read this one too.

Hunting eve
I don't usually write reviews but I feel this one deserved a word or two. I gave this only three stars because in my opinion this series is by far the worse iris johansen embarked on. Although it started out very well it very quickly went from intense to ridiculous and farfetched I mean come on I know novels and fiction are just that but where did this mishmash come from? the land of oz? I won't spoil it for new readers except to say don't waste your time or money. Her earlier works are much better. I see this happening alot to great authors who start out with gusto and well planned story lines then once they get you hooked and their ego gets the best of them start writing just words to pump out books quickly for the money and to hell with the profession they should take pride in. Johansen needs to come back down to earth, she owes her fans that much!!

Not Happy!
I love Eve Duncan stories. However, this trilogy was not an Eve Duncan story. While Eve was the object of the search, it seemed that the story was about the other characters and they were numerous. It seemed that Iris just threw in every character that has ever been in an Eve Duncan story and the story was more about them. I like Joe, Jane, Kendra, Caleb, Margaret, and all the rest but I prefer having Eve as the central character not the other supporting characters. Any forensic sculpture artist could have been substituted for Eve for these characters to find. Of course the emotional attachment would not be there. I must admit that I feel kind of cheated as this trilogy could have been just one book if you removed all of the padding and fluff and just concentrated on the story. I gave this 3 stars because it was a good story for the most part but it just wasn't an Eve Duncan story.

DISAPPOINTING..DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY
I had been a fan of Eve Duncan and Iris Johansen. Over the last 2 books my loyalty to the author and the character have been waning, now it is gone. There was no depth or character development in this book. I feel cheated that I spent time and money and got nothing in return. I have read free books that I enjoyed so much more. Who is writing this drivel? I bought the next book in the series (Silencing Eve) before I read this one, and it was released before I could ask for a refund. I won't waste my time reading it. The best way for me to Silence Eve is to just not bother.SPOILER ALERTI was almost hoping the mad man would kill Eve as I no longer cared about her.

All three should have been a single book
Hunting Eve, Taking Eve, and Silencing Eve are all the same story. This is a ridiculous trend to tel a story in three books, when a single book will do. Just triples the money. If all the back-story were removed from the second and third book (stuff explaining what happened in previous books to make the current book "stand alone") then it would be a single, slightly long, novel. That's what it should have been.Instead book one has no end, book two has no beginning or end, an d book three has no beginning. In general I like the Eve Duncan books from Ms. Johansen, but her editors and publishers are quickly remedying that for me. This is the second "trio" of books that could have, and should have been a single novel.

I love Iris Johansen
The plot twists are harrowing and enough to keep me reading into the night which I don't like to do! But, saving Eve Duncan from this evil man is vital. With the mad ride through the mining town into the bar where the gun is hidden to the big explosion at the end, I'm not sure where Iris Johansen is going with this story. I'm also not sure that this story needed to be a trilogy. How can she write another whole story now? Also, I didn't like all the "dark evil" parts that came out in this story. I don't happen to be a believer of that stuff, so it was a distraction for me. But, it sells books, I know, so go for it. On the other hand, I DO like the times when Bonnie appears to Eve to direct her or to comfort her. Go figure. Guess I'm a sucker for goodness. I already have my eye on the end of the trilogy. I will eagerly read it.

Love ALL of her books.
Love Iris Johansen's books. They never let me down. Keeps you wanting to continue reading to find out what happens and makes you want the next book to see what happens next. Awesome author as she writes many different styles of books, i.e.: Mystery, romance, suspense, etc. Highly recommended. I have gone back and purchase all of her past books. This author is prolific and sometimes publishes more than one book in a month. Favorite author.
