Looked and worked like the OEM keyboard, but I don't think it was easy to install..
My four year old was younger, and had destroyed a couple of the keyboard keys. They seem to go through that phase. I decided to replace the keyboard since it was so cheap.I wish I had made a video of the installation - I found a site that had the installation instructions. Just google for DV6000 keyboard installation - and go down about a third of a page to get past all of the keyboard sellers.Look carefully at how the cable is plugged in - the socket is a zif socket - you have to pop it open, gently, no parts come off, it clicks and the cable releases, then you put the new cable in, and --- half the keys don't work. You look at the keyboard, and you see that there is a hair in the zif socket. Unclick it, remove the cable, blast it with canned air, put it back...and reassemble - and you have gotten a corner of the keyboard under something, disassemble, reassemble, and third time is the charm.I'm familiar with small mechanical things, I can do small engine repair and get my lawnmower running, for example. Laptop repair is tough. This is an easy laptop repair, and much harder than, say, repairing a carburetor. But the keyboard is high quality, the keyboard lasted until my 21 year old idiot daughter let her one year old baby play with it rather than supervise her. I'll buy another keyboard to fix the pc again, soon.

Perfect Fit
As has been said many times already, this keyboard is a perfect replacement for the HP DV6000 laptop. The quality of the keys is perfect and its very fairly priced. The keyboard feels exactly like the original.Another reviewer mentioned that the ribbon cable does not have a bend like the the original. This is true, but I did not attempt the bend it like they did. I simply placed the keyboard in, connected the ribbon cable, and closed it up. Since the keyboard is held by screws to the frame, I wasnt worried about the ribbon cable being damaged. As was said before there are no instructions included. I searched "replace keyboard dv6000" on Youtube and came up with several step-by-step videos showing exactly which screws to remove and how to swap it out. I had it done in less than 15 minutes, and thats being generous. The packaging was a bit light, but I had bought other items so it came packaged in a larger box with my other items. The box itself was thin with a thin styrofoam layer all inside a plastic bag. If you are worried about the packaging just bundle other items like I did and it will be fine.I also upgraded the HDD and reinstalled Windows 7. Between that and the replacement keyboard, the laptop feels brand new.

Great quality for the money
I'm really amazed at the number of quality replacement parts available for my old HP DV6500. This keyboard, for the money is might be at the top of the list in terms of value finds. First, this keyboard is a little mushier IMO than the original DV6500 keyboard that came on my "Entertainment Machine". Mine was the AMD model. The original keyboard had a very crisp feel. This one is not bad, but not quite exactly the same. But that said I think we need to consider something here, you're getting a full replacement keyboard for your laptop that fits perfectly into your machine and ultimately DOES type competently. Given this fact, I'd say you really can't beat the value. This possibly the final piece in the refurbishment of this old machine (considering 4GB ram). Currently I have a Crucial M500 SSD, 2GB RAM & replacement battery. All in all this thing feels like a brand new machine. I've very happy my 6/7 year old machine can keep me going!

Like the original!!
Ok. First I don't want anyone to take my review the wrong way or get the wrong idea about this product. I just happen to waste an entire gallon of juice in my laptop. Thankfully I reacted quick and was able to get all of the liquid out of my laptop. In turn I ended up with a sticky keyboard. It still worked, but it was very hard to type of sticking keys. So I did a search and found this product for a good price. The only issue that I am having is that since I have replaced my keyboard, the left side towards the touch bar seems to have a bulge in it. For some reason it will not go away. The keyboard works perfectly fine and I even like it better than the original I had in my laptop before. The keys are quieter and the strike is very easy. I don't believe it is something that I have done, because I have taken apart laptop again and again and everything seems to be in place. Overall I can't tell the difference between the two keyboards.

Great for when your 2 y.o. pulls the buttons off your laptop!
We purchased this after our son rendered our laptop unusable by prying the buttons off and losing them. I looked into purchasing a replacement keyboard from hp directly and the prices were just unreasonable. After giving up for a few months I renewed my search on Amazon and was pleased to find an affordable option here. We had no problems with the seller and we recieved our product when promised without any problems. My husband had no problem installing the new keyboard himself...though he did fry to media bar at the top in the process. Well you know what they say-if you want something done right do it yourself unless it's installing a laptop keyboard- all those little screws are a nightmare! I'd happily let him have his hand at it any day even though I could have done it myself. Anyhow I am really glad that we got a replacement and were able to fix it without sending it out to be repaired.
