Teaching pride to toddlers and preschoolers.
Teaching youth in formative years is job One. Public schools fail especially when it comes to our children's hairstyles. These publications instills pride in our youths culture. Public schools do not. These children are advanced learners. Difficult, does not register in them.

REPRESENTATION MATTERS
We LOVE this book. At around 4 and a half years old my son started to voice negative feelings about his hair. He said that it "wasn't cool" because he was comparing it to his White friends' hair. This book has helped him see just how cool HIS hair is! 😭😍 Great representation of different Black hairstyles and the writing and language is perfect for young kids. My 5 yearold loves it and I'm sure it'll be a favorite for many years to come. The target audience is probably boys age 9-12. CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS BOOK ENOUGH!

Absolutely Love love love this book!!!!
This is a definite must have for any collection. I read this to my 6 and 9 year and they loved it. As for myself I absolutely loooovvveeee this book!! First of all the images are absolutely breathtaking. It is so refreshing to see such a beautiful array of brown and black people captured so eloquently. The mixtures of of red and pink hues in the faces are just perfect. Secondly, the story itself flows so gracefully, almost like poetic form. And lastly, the way story captured that confidence and pride that needs to be instilled in all of our young men was the best part. This story needs to be in all of our homes and schools and not just for people of color. It's a really wonderful book.

Amazing
My son and I absolutely love this book! Representation matters and the message of the power not just of a haircut but the feelings it invokes. The part how his mother sees him, so powerful. Young black boys need to be praised, acknowledged, loved, shown how to emote...because one day they become black men. Black boys and men are worthy, loved, appreciated, valued etc. this book opened up a can of worms if you will lol.
