does what it should, and do not notice any color cast. I generally only use UV filters on my lenses for added protection, not for UV purposes as sensors have all that covered on the inside of camera. Ocean salt water splashes/sand grit and or in messy surroundings that could result in getting lens glass dirty/touched. I usually try to purchase plain clear non UV filters (Nikon Clear) but sadly they are much more expensive. THIS is good value & works fine!!

Item received matched my basic expectations: a coated UV filter in the 46mm filter size.The Amazon seller's description mentions nano-coating (which can help keep the filter glass cleaner longer by repelling liquids and dusts), but the product box doesn't specifically mention it aside from the "MRC" (Multi-Resistant Coating) in the product name. The filter appears coated for anti-reflection on both surfaces as expected, but its effectiveness looks mediocre. (See an example of ghosting in an image when this filter was used.)In general, it would be best to remove a filter when shooting into a bright light source such as the Sun or bright lights, and/or use a lens hood to shade the front of lens if possible. Useful as a protective filter in place of a lens cap, especially when and where you cannot avoid lens from getting dirty. (e.g. on a windy day at the beach.)As measured (46mm UV filter):- Rim thickness: 3.2mmI wish the anti-reflective coating was more effective. Overall, I'm giving it 4 stars.

I build my own camera housings. Prior to this purchase I used a lens protector that was clear glass. That old lens produced double images of bright points of light at night. This lens is coated and does not produce double images, so the coating does work. And, best part, this lens was slightly cheaper!
