I was about to give them a one star review and return them but as it turns out, they just needed new batteries. It doesn't take much to power the display but apparently the valve operation needs pretty fresh batteries. The problem was that zones would be just running all the time and the timer wouldn't control anything. I had purchased two of these and one kept zone 4 open all the time so it's possible that one was defective. The other one and the replacement for the bad one worked great for a couple weeks and then suddenly multiple zones would be open and running all the time.I was using the cheap Amazon AA batteries and before returning them as defective, I decided to try one last thing, new batteries! Now both are working well again.Setting them up is easy and pretty intuitive. You just toggle through the different positions with the middle button and make adjustments with the arrows. I was confused about the days at first, I set them to 7 days thinking that meant water all 7 days but it actually means water once every 7 days. If you want them to water every day set this to 1.

Great product for irrigating in remote locations. The four outlets are able to be programmed individually for different areas or plant needs. No wires or piping required. It’s so simple a child could setup a first rate irrigation system for their garden. Well worth the money.

This four zone timer has worked flawlessly out of the box. Takes a bit to program but it works well. Is saving me a good amount of time hooked up to some large area sprinklers.

This is one of very few trimmers that allow me to water as often as one minute every 4 hours. I can use it to sprout barley seed for chickens and water multiple container vegetable gardens less often with the same timer. This last timer broke and flooded my garden, it would not turn off, after removing battery's shutting water supply off and a few love taps, i was a little upset it failed after less than two years. I decided to try my luck at there warranty policy and send it back per instructions on the Melnor web site. I got a new one back in the mail in very short order, no questions asked! Although it broke sooner than expected, ill keep buying Melnor products as long as thay stand by them!

I’ve had several Melnor timers, both 2 and 4 zone, and this has to be either a defective unit or the new design is awful. My other timers snapped off where it connects to the spigot because they’re made of plastic. ***melnor it’s time to upgrade this part of your unit because it’s weakest link and should be very sturdy*** Melnor tried to make the timer simpler to use by eliminating the “ok” button in the center which is great, but now you have to wait 5 seconds for the timer to kick on instead of just hitting the “ok” button. Not a deal breaker but annoying if you’re trying to prioritize your time since it only took a split second to utilize this function. What leads to the defective issue is the plus and minus buttons both stick relentlessly and all other buttons works perfectly fine. Going to contact Melnor for a replacement.

This is the second one I purchased. The first one lasted me about 3 years which equals the cost of about $20 for each year on purchase price which isn’t bad for the convenience of it. I never saw any problems with the programmed schedule not working as others have commented. If the new one gives me any problems I will revise my review. The second year with the last timer the buttons started sticking but last year I had no problems with the buttons so not sure why it straightened itself out. This.year the 2nd station stopped working on the old one but the other 3 stations still worked fine so I purchased a replacement because I need all 4 stations. I do detach it and store it during winter months.

This thing works like a dream and I would give it five stars if you could schedule it to run on specific days. It's bizarre to me that there's no way to run a different station on different days. I really need it to run Station one for four hours on Monday, Station two for four hours On Tuesday etc etc and there's no way to do that.

Easy to set up and program, functions as intended and very good at what it does. My only downside, was the initial troubleshooting. As other reviews have stated, it can leak if not seated perfectly with the hose spicket. if it gets bumped in any way you can also induce a leak. Was able to finally get it sealed, and kept my hoses going off properly twice per day keeping my newly seeded lawn well watered.It is almost entirely made of plastic. If where you live gets cold, it would be advisable to bring this inside during the winter to prevent cracking and prolong longevity.

Very satisfied, the plants are now very happy.

We bought this water timer to replace another similar but different brand that was one year old. We created a cover out of an icecream lid to keep the all day hot sun off of it as we think that may be what did in the other one. Just an FYI. This one is working perfectly so far and was easy to set up.

Este temporizador es mi compra más reciente y con él remplazo uno de dos tomas que colocaré en otra sección del jardín. Puedo decir que en mi nuevo temporizador observo la calidad de materiales propia de la marca, así como una usabilidad adecuada. El temporizador me permite optimizar el riego de mi jardín, que es justamente lo que requería. Para prolongar su vida útil tomé estas medidas: 1) Lo instalé a la sombra; 2) Conecté una de las cuatro mangueras mediante conector rápido, previendo que necesite desconectarla; 3) Coloqué baterías alcalinas no recargables, conforme a las especificaciones del manual; y 4) Me he trazado un plan de limpieza del dispositivo, con el propósito de retirar polvo y residuos (en la zona suele haber corrientes de viento que arrastran polvo y hojas de pino). Por lo demás, recibí el producto en la fecha indicada y correctamente empacado.

Works very well had a little issue initially but they were quick to help and resolve my problem

Seal is appalling. Water sprays everywhere from the tap and the joint. Really really poor product !!
