Love it! Awesome invention. I bought the black one and the black 57. Anyone who has been to war with a big fish, sturgeon for me, knows when you’re in battle and the end of your rod is jammed in your gut, the s—- hurts. Lol. 5 stars on this one for sure. I’m sure it helps your back to relieve pressure too. Love it! So you can see in photo the black 57 has a lot thicker abdominal pad that the standard model. Either way, boy are comfortable and nice addition.

The main reason I bought it is because I like the idea of not having to screw off the metal rod to switch between using a regular rod butt or gimbal butt. While that is true, I did find out that using heavier set ups or hooking up to bigger fish is uncomfortable when using the rod gimbal. Since the metal bar is basically all the way to the bottom and not center, whenever there's a load it pushes just the bottom half into your groin instead of utilizing the whole surface area of the plate. While uncomfortable it is bearable and still better than just bare skin. If you're mainly gonna use without a gimbal then its honestly perfect. I keep it as a back up in my bag for myself or to lend out. Build quality is amazing and cant beat it for only $50.

Have been fishing for a number of years without such a belt and it wasn’t fun. Bought it. Used it last winter ocean fishing and really enjoyed the experience. Can’t wait to get out on the water this winter with it.

Pulling up a big halibut from the depths can be made easier by this belt. It allows a fulcrum point to apply leverage. The wide base also prevents bruising of the abdominal area. Its well designed and to allow the butt of the rod to slip into the correct slot.

PRO: 1. Holds larger and smaller rods alike (see picture). 2. You can use the pin option to 'swivel' the rod end up and down. 3. You can use the 'hole' to simply place a butt of a rod in and move as you like. CON: 1. There is ZERO Carbon Fiber in this model. I think they should sell them on separate pages. Stop saving a buck or two and putting Aluminum and Carbon Fiber models on the same page. 2. The anodized paint on the aluminum model scratches off easy, like really easy. It'll be silver by the time I'm due for a new one. 3. Does not float, one picture shows it going into water, well that would be the last you'll ever see of this. 4. The 'buckle' loosens up over time / use, and needs adjusting WHILE fighting a fish in the chair! 5. The strap was attached upside down from the factory, I changed it around, but NO quality control, in the factory or from the seller. OTHER: 1. I see the price went up on this, no way I'd pay $52.99+ for this, I paid $46.00 because I was going on a charter in a few weeks and needed something with the dual use option, pin, large rod; hole for smaller rod. 2. Padding is minimal, like almost non existent, so I think I'll strip that off and put my own on, or just add some more / another layer. 3. Would have been worth the price at $24.00 for the aluminum model. Plastic ones are at $12. 4. At $52.99, this should come with some accessory loops on the belt, like a police officer's belt, attach / clip on your pliers, knife, rag, etc.

Made of durable strong materials. Most pole butts fit into the belts opening easy allowing the fighting of the fish. Belt straps easily adjust, and the unit feels comfortable even for long big fish fights.

Beautifully and Overly built, this will last a lifetime. It's perfect for inshore and oil rig fishing in the Gulf of Mexico.
