This thermometer is easy to use, easy to clean , takes AAA batteries and takes quick accurate temperature readings. After purchasing one for myself I’m buying them as gifts for others.

Had to buy another Instant Read Therm after my 'backup' one totally flaked out for some reason. Always like to have 2 just in case.. This one has quickly gone from my backup to my primary after a few weeks. Started with a quick calibration even tho it was perfectly in range when I got it. I like to be a little more than 'in range'. It's super easy to calibrate, use, and the large numbers/contrast make it easy for my old eyes to see...VERY accurate. Tested against my other Instant Read and different cooking probes, and it's always DEAD on.It's a little bigger than my other one, but I actually kind of liked that. Can get further into thick cuts of meat without getting hands too close to the heat, so that was enough to move it from backup to starter!Can't go wrong with this one, and the price point is perfect.

There are lots of digital thermometers out there at lots of price ranges. I took a chance on this one and it worked great, and beat my expectations with a few surprises.With a thermometer, you want something that's quick and accurate. To use it, you simply pull the probe out from the side and it turns on automatically. Stick the probe in whatever you are measuring and you get a very quick reading. There were a few nice surprises though.The display lights up automatically. Though the numbers are nice and big, the backlighting makes them even more legible. Not only that, there is a sensor that can detect the orientation of the thermometer and the display will flip when it detects it's somewhat upside-down.I like to rinse the probe before I put the thermometer away and once I was too busy to do so until much later and was surprised to see that it had turned off by itself. It's nice that it will do this to conserve battery power as it's not always convenient while cooking to clean and put away the thermometer right away.This thermometer is a well made product and I can easily recommend it to others who are looking for a good quality thermometer for their kitchen.

This thermometer is super easy to use. All you have to do is open up the probe, and it instantly comes on. My tests for accuracy weren't entirely scientific, but the readouts I was getting seemed to be on point. I find the responsiveness of the temperature gauge to be really fast! Moving it from different parts of the kitchen and taking sample readings, I noticed how quickly the display adjusts.I am taking off one star because after 5 minutes of use, the error message "Lo" started to flash, letting me know the batteries already needed to be changed. Luckily I happened to have some new AAA ones lying around. I used the screwdriver from an eyeglass repair kit to open the battery port, and it was the perfect size.I haven't had a chance to use it a lot, but so far it seems to be a good deal for the price. Just make sure you have some fresh AAA batteries and a tiny screwdriver just in case!

I really like this. I like it turns on just by opening it. It reads very quickly. It seems accurate. The price is reasonable.

I bought this because i needed a instant read probe. I got to use it, and i have to say, I love it. The smartro powers on when unfolded. It is super easy to read, and use, and is very accurate. My first use was on 20.00 each T-bones. It worked awsome! The steaks were cooked to the exact deg. and was perfect. Wife said i was geting good guessing doneness. (This can be our little secret) lol. It shiped fast, and came in a nice box to store it in when not in use. I cant wait to use it with my sausage making. I would rate it 10 out of 10 and do it all over again! If your looking, get one! You wont be disapointed.Stan

after posting my original 1 star review I heard from seller, unexpectedly. Within a few messages and days he had sent a replacement that is perfect, I have used it several times already. I believe the first may have had a problem we didn't realize as the "feel" of the new one when opening the probe is different. I appreciate good customer service and we received just that..FIVE STARS*****!!!!!. ours lasted about 6 months....changed batteries....didn't help....not satisfied with performance, when it worked it was amazing....seemed to be accurate, easy to read, clean, use....disappointed it didn't last long

Super practical and very nice and sturdy!This thing looks solid! It has a magnet on the base so it is cool to keep it attached to the shelves on your grill while you cook and then pop the needle when you need to test the temperature.The display changes orientation based on how you are holding it, which was very nice and a surprise. This was a nice upgrade. Recommended.

UPDATE: Since posting review below, I was contacted by the company/seller and sent a replacement free of charge. The replacement works fine. Top marks for customer service!Got this based on the good reviews, but my unit does not work at all. Regardless of where it is placed (boiling water, iced water, cooked meat) it reads between 21-34C.Bought it a while back and hadn't used it and Amazon automatically close the return window 1 month after purchase. A hassle now to try and get a refund :(
