Super fun kit. It decibel is a bit of a learning curve with getting the temp right and it but doing too quick as to prevent cracking but not hard to learn at all

simple and has everything!
This kit has it all except the heating element. A hot plate is best since it has consistent heat in once place, but I have to use the stove where im afraid of melting the handle. The scents are great (a little hard to get out of the bottle), the colors are AMAZING (but also a little hard to determine what colors would mix well, trying to make purple made a light blue) Colors come out brighter than they are when melted. The candle wicks are good, except the sticky pad you use to put them in is pretty bad. Every time I use one it just unsticks, so the metal wicks are being used most. I also get some wooden wicks separately to use, but you could get wick by the spool for cheap.Favorite part of this is the containers, they are super sleek and look modern. The lids hold on securely and I have not seen them scratch.

Great for Beginners!
This is a cute little candle making kit for beginners. The little black tins have a sleek look to them and everything comes packaged in a nice little kit with an instruction card. However, the instruction card is pretty wordy, meaning I had to make a bunch of assumptions as to what I was supposed to do and had an easier time just searching through the Internet for a diy guide. As far as the equipment goes, good luck trying to use the wick trimmers if you're left handed (which you're probably used to anyway so no big deal there), and if you're right handed be prepared to sharpen them or get something else entirely as mine barely cut through a normal wick after 3 tries. You're just SOL if you decided to be fancy like I did and get crackling wooden wicks. It'd probably be easier to get Ralph Macchio to karate chop it than to use these blunt edged cutters on those. The thermometer is much too big for the furnace and I can't attach it to the side, which wouldn't be a problem if I had been born with extra hands, but seeing as how I wasn't that blessed, I immediately knocked the furnace off of the hot plate trying to stir the wax with one hand while holding the thermometer inside the container with my other hand.Next, I barely bumped into the table knocking the furnace off the plate for a second time, tripped over myself to avoid hot wax hitting my bare feet (I highly recommend wearing shoes), and managed to not fall by bracing myself on what I thought was the table, but turned out to be the hot plate. I think a double boiler system might actually be safer, especially around my animals.Personally not a fan of floral scents, so most of these oils I'll never use, but the lemon smells nice. The wicks they came with don't allow the wax to melt to the entire edge of the candle, which is problematic if you're sincerely trying to perfect this. All in all, most of my issues can be chalked up to user error. It's a solid starter kit with only a few minor issues.

easy to follow instructions
the colors are lovely. The essential oils are wonderful, but there were no specifics as to how much to add. So my candles have a very light fragrance. Extra items are included so if you want to keep making candles, you just need to get more wax.

Pros and cons
The good parts of this kit: warming plate, pitcher, spoon, wick holders, dye blocks, heat mat, containers, gift labels rather than dried botanicals that shouldn't be put in candles. The ok parts: wicks (generic sizes), wick stickers (they might come off at the end of the candle's life)The bad parts: really low quality wax, not enough wax to fill all 6 containers (each holds 4 oz so you need 24 oz of wax but you get 16 oz, thus each container is about 1/2 full), use of cheap essential oils (not meant for candle making, very weak, burns hot so it tunnels fast, wasting half the unmelted wax).Summary: the kit is a decent value for small batches due to the hardware provided, and enough dye blocks for 16 lbs of wax. The wicks are generic so keep your containers small. Don't bother using the essential oils, get real candle fragrance somewhere besides amazon, and buy a bag of better wax since you won't have enough anyway. The one container I filled with other wax and no essential oil burned perfectly. Works well for batches of wax melts too.
