Wicked in Your Arms: Forgotten Princesses

Wicked in Your Arms
Wicked In Your Arms was so cute! It's an opposites attract, from different sides of the tracks, hate to love mash-up of adorableness! Grier and her half-sisters have just been reunited with their father. He may be untitled and have a less than stellar reputation, but he's provided the girls with very generous dowries. Unfortunately, that's not quite enough for them to snag husbands. In fact, Grier overhears the crown prince of Maldania saying just how unsuitable a bride she'd be, prompting her to dump her drink on him! But the prince can't seem to get his mind off the feisty woman and is desperate to have her as his mistress.I absolutely adored Wicked In Your Arms. I loved that instead of being lords and ladies, we get a prince and a low born woman who was once a game master! Quite the unusual pairing! I also absolutely loved how these two are first thrust together after their initial meeting. It's quite hilarious and awkward, but it causes feelings to begin stirring! From there, Grier and Sevastian keep running into each other and misreading the situation which leads to many misunderstands, but nothing too over-the-top. It all just causes them to not be able to keep their hands off one another!Wicked In Your Arms was just a delightful read. Grier knows she's not what the men of the ton are looking for in a wife, but she's also not going to settle for less, even with a prince. She has standards and dignity! Sevastian's life has never been his own, even his choice of bride. But once he gets a taste of Grier, pedigrees be damned! He loves her, and she's going to be his queen! They also have far more in common than their opposite upbringings would suggest. This leads to my favorite epilogue that I've probably ever read! Those two are just too funny!

Sophie Jordan is fantastic!
I'm new to Historical Romances, I'm a paranormal romance person myself, and I'm so glad I found Jordan's books! This series is beyond amazing! I tend to like books with strong female leads, and Grier does not disappoint. She'd rather hang out behind potted plants at parties and eat biscuits then put up with the false smiles and gossiping ton. Because of her 'new father' and her low birth status, Grier has it a bit harder than most to fit in. And when prince Sevastion decides to drag her character through the mud a few times in gossip...well let's just say, he gets a drink to the back of the head.Grier is witty, strong willed, and just wants to be loved for who she is. Who doesn't? YOU GO GIRL! Sevastion kind've starts off as an...well, an ass. You find out the WHY later, but he's just as stubborn as she is, with a sharp mind and keeping his people back home his number one goal. Not many people are that noble, eh?I loved the sparring between them, how Sev will through something at her (verbally, of course) and how she throws it right back at him. (She doesn't care he's a prince, a jerk is a jerk right?) How they each resist each other, but so end up falling head over heels. And there was one part of the book I did not see coming at ALL, but it totally fit and brought them closer together. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time during that part!! I'm trying not to be spoilery, but once you finish the book - you'll know what I mean. There are times when you just want to beat Sev over the head and tell him to get with the program, and Grier to buck up and have confidence in herself because SHE IS WORTH IT, but that's just because you come do adore both characters and just want them to get their happy ending. Because they both deserve it!!!All in all? I LOVED THIS BOOK. And I'm buying the entire series. End of story. So go fall in love with Grier and Sev like you should, ok? :)(Review also posted on Goodreads)

Enjoyable read, touching and romantic
Our heroine, Grier, was rich, sweet and spunky, even though she was looked down upon for her breeding by the elite members of the ton.Sev, our princely hero, needed money, was a strong personalty, even with his fund deficit. His title and looks provided him with the respect and admiration of the ton. He needed to find a wealthy bride with good breeding. This bride would certainly not be the red headed beauty, who had the nerve to dump lemonaid on his head, or was she? And why did he feel compeled to stand up for her when others would try to demean her talents. This was a story that held my attention. A little more depth in the characters would have added to the story. Normally, I do not like a prince as a hero, however, in a few books, such as this one it worked.Since this is a work of fiction, I do not put much stock in what should or should not be possible. Truly, it is whatever the writer makes you believe. This story was plausible just because of the characters, their attractions for one another that just could not be denied. Sometimes, regardless of what the elite think, happiness is the only thing that matters. They chose happiness and the love they felt for each other.Sophie is a delightful writer, some of my favorites by her are SINS OF A WICKED DUKE, and TOO WICKED TO TAME.As for this story, I liked it and enjoyed the hunt.

Not a princess
The title is a bit misleading, as it has nothing to do with lost princesses. However, the story is lovely.Grier Hadley was born on the wrong side of the blanket to a gambling hell owner. She and one of her half sisters have been sponsored by the Dowager Duchess of Bolingbroke, who has three unmarried sons and no money, so need to marry heiresses. Prince Sevastian of Maldania has come to England following a civil war to find a rich bride who can help rebuild the kingdom.Grier Hadley first attracts his attention at a ball when she overhears him insulting her origins and pours water all over him. However, he can't help kissing her after she unwittingly foils his tryst with another married guest. They are both subsequently invited to a house party where further arguments and kisses ensue. The story moves at a good pace; there is a bit of action towards the end of the book, a rather unexpected twist, but the books is mainly taken up by the two characters learning about each other, and having to amend their first bad impressions. However, Grier is entirely unsuitable to be a princess or a queen, and Sevastian has a hard choice to make.A most enjoyable book.
