Shield Security 1.75 Inch Heavy Duty Commercial Grade Chrome Plated Hardened Solid Steel Key Padlock

First of all, let me say I knew EXACTLY what I was buying when I ordered it.This lock is NOT hardened, and is easily cuttable with a hacksaw. It is so easy to a pick a politician could do it. You can rake it, bump it, whatever. Never EVER use this to secure anything, not even from your kids. The fit of the key is ROUGH, and so is the unlocking, and everything else about this lock.However the lock cylinder while EXTREMELY rough is removable and can be cleaned up and smoothed out. You can then repin the lock core itself, and use it for practice or clean it up and modify the pins into security pins and use it on your door(what I plan to do). Considered lock cores are generally 30 bucks, then keys, then pins, etc, using it like I am it's a bargain. Using it to secure anything even a 2 dollar bottle of Mt Dew is a BAD idea.

Uses a Schlage keyway but not a standard Schlage key blank or spacing. A standard five pin Schlage keyblank will not fit all the way into the cylinder as it is too long. The key that comes with this lock is about 3/4 the size of a regular blank. Pins are also not standard. You can not key this lock into a Schlage system at all!!!

Although it will accept a 5pin Schlage C key. (I didn't check if a 6pin key would fit) The standard Schlage pins do not fit in the chambers. The pins are of a smaller diameter.Junk in my opinion, at least if you are purchasing witht he intention of rekeying.

Bought this to practice my lock picking skills, defeated the lock in 30 seconds. Heavy, square body can be used as a bottle opener at a pinch (hence 2 stars)

Good lock for the price. Core uses smaller non standard pins. Not worth it for me to re-key.
