Hardcore Mother (German Edition)

Focused heavily on prurience, in particular a keen interest in incest, Hardcore Mother relies on long, winding setups to acts of perversion that, in the end, are imminently predicable but nonetheless disturbing. The heart of the novella rests in the delight the author, Maxon Crumb, had in elaborating the details for the audience's stoic disapproval as juxtaposed to his own obvious personal titillation in fleshing out incestuous debauchery. That's more observation than criticism. Appreciating what you write is one of the main perks of writing. What I take issue with more than anything is the needless asides which break the fourth wall and address the reader as if to buffer their tender sensibilities from the next assault. It's okay, we can handle it. If not, we'll stop reading. That's the basic writer/reader contract since time immemorial. Removing these appendix-like parts would aid in the flow of the tale, albeit where it flows is seldom pleasant, unless descriptions of a brother giddily ogling his sister's violently exposed genitalia are in your literary wheelhouse.I'm a fan of dark slices of reality, or hyper-reality, but Hardcore Mother's tale of a sexually abusive mother falls short in delivering a tightly written and more varied experience. The tale feels at times like the ruminations of an agoraphobic. Not much happens outside of the home run by a horrid mother bent on drumming up a three-way with her children. I'd say buy it mostly for the illustrations. Each nicely sums up the debasements to come.In any case, I wish Maxon well.

Not sure about the story, but I really love this guy's bizarre and extraordinary art from another dimension. From what I've read he is a bit looney, so I hope he gets some of this money and his agent and publisher are not screwing him over. Would love to see more of Maxon's work and maybe even buy some ... truly original and I think much better than his brother's stuff.

pretty low quality production and i'm not crazy about the artwork or the writing. i think i just bought this because its so bizarre. i don't think its great art though.. but if you want to indulge in sick fantasies you might like it... doesn't really turn me on though
