Definitely not waterproof. Manufacturer reluctant to honor 1 yr warranty.
Worked okay for a couple of months. Then after just sitting next to the kitchen sink for a day or two and getting splashed on, there was water on the inside of the display and it was reading completely inaccurately (room temp is 150°F). Reached out to the manufacturer as it was advertised as waterproof, took 3 or 4 days of emails back and forth with them not wanting to refund me and me having to point out that A) they list this thing as IP67 waterproof, which it's not (should be capable of being submerged in 3 ft of water for 30 min), B) They state they have a "ONE YEAR MONEY BACK GUARANTEE", but said they could only offer me a 50% refund until I pointed that guarantee out and threatened to escalate the dispute to Amazon. This is a fine thermometer as long as you don't get anywhere near even small amounts of water, which is not such an easy task for a kitchen utensil. I'd look elsewhere.

Nice features!
For the price is an excellent thermometer. The light is a great added feature as most expensive thermometers don't even have a light. Most of the time I tend to barbecue at dinner time so the light with it's nice beautiful display helps immensely in the dark.People also have to like the waterproof feature. Many thermometers I have had in the past due because they were not even water resistant. The magnet is nice too as I can place it on the refrigerator.Very decent price for an above average thermometer. Would recommend!

FINALLY-one that can stay out in the rain!
My husband has a terrible habit of leaving meat thermometers out in the rain by the grill. I don't know why and I don't ask because I'm usually doing a million other things though you'd think I'd learn by now! This one, finally, is water resistant and has survived two rainfalls, three snowfalls, and, like the Energizer bunny, is still banging the drum to safe food temps. I'm a dietitian so I'm pretty fussy about that stuff and this thermometer is perfect and I can even see it without my glasses when I use it in the house so the large display wins it for me, too!

Great when it works. Lasted me 6 months.
It has all the features you need as cook:1. Reads temperture2. Backlit screen3. Digital Calibration4. Automatic shutdown when not in use5. Retractable sensing armHowever, out of the features that it promises but doesn't deliver fully on1. Magenetic - Extremely weak magnet, will slide off of a fridge door with the slightest suggestion of gravity2. Waterproof - Stood up to handwashing with soap and water but was damaged by water after the 6-month markMy main reason for writing this review is that it isn't truly waterproof, which is the biggest sell for an electric themometer. It's great for the price point as the only other product that comes close to its features has been the expensive Lavatool thermometer which I don't own and am not willing to shell out for but note that it probably won't last. Still frustrated to have this otherwise passable thermometer break down in 6 months for a feature it's supposed to have.

Loved it while it worked! 2 years and it died.
I really liked this thermometer while it lasted. It had a great display which was large and easy to read, it had the auto shut-off, and it was just handy for pretty much every type of cooking or finding out the temperatures of something.I even gave this thermometer as a gift to family members.Today however, all of a sudden it read LL.L, and changing out the battery in attempting to recalibrate it had no effect.I tried many times to recalibrate it in ice water as directed online, but it would never do anything except read LL.L.

Easy to use
I purchased this thermometer after having too many others ruined by dropping them into hot liquid. This one has not been dropped into hot liquid yet. With the way that it is designed it is so much easier to grip I'm not sure it will. I use the thermometer to pasteurize milk twice a day. It is easy to read and easy to operate-no more pushing tiny buttons to turn it on and off like the others I have used. It does have an automatic shut off if you don't close it. I just pushed buttons until it started up again. Now I just close it each time.

Unreliable
Worked very nicely for two measurements. It would read quickly and accurately, which was nice. It is slightly magnetic - not strong enough to hold itself to a vertical surface reliably, but will hold on a sloped or flat surface to keep it from wandering away.On the third use, the screen indicated "LL.L" and there appears to be no way to fix this. I removed, measured and replaced the battery to no effect. Attempted a calibration but it errored out and returned to "LL.L." My guess is an internal disconnect of some sort. I'll be sending this back as defective.

Cheap thermometer but good luck on getting a working unit
Didn't work at all. The temperature number inches slowly toward its target. Takes more than 5 minutes to show the results. This is even after calibration. Must be a defective unit. Returned for a full refund. I have bought quite a number of cheap meat thermometers from different no-name vendors over the years. The failure rate is about half (in my small sample size). I now have a unit twice as its price and works well out of the box.
