We enjoy cooking at home and try to purchase cooking equipment that gives us the most bang for the buck. We generally use a DMT diamond stone or a Chef's Choice electric sharpener for our knives, but were excited to try this sharpener for our lesser used knives. We have an older chinese cleaver and a restaurant supply santoku and this sharpener gave them a really nice edge with just a few strokes. It was a little concerning the amount of metal removed and the edge had a pretty rough texture, but was quite sharp and smoothed out with a little use of a honing steel. Having spent time at several relative's homes this holiday season, it seems that most casual home cooks could really benefit from a simple sharpener like this one as our knives are much sharper than any I used this week and I may just leave it in my car to sharpen knives at any house I visit and help cook. Very nice. It does come with the glove pictured but I trust myself enough that I'm not going to bother with it.If you've never sharpened a knife before (like me), the instructions aren't that great. I know it's easy, you put the knife in the thing and pull it. But there are 3 and I guess you are supposed to go in a specific order and I just wish it said, start with fine or start with ceramic.The stainless steel part that does the sharpening is removable and the hand grip is nice, as is the padded bottom to anchor it to your counter top.

The sharpener is very good. I dont have ceramic knives, so I can't tell how good this part of it. Regular sharpener works just fine.Some of my friends use special stones and leather for fine sharpening, but they spend hours(!!!) for it. That's just the right tool for most people.I don't know why do they put the glove into the box, I will never use it, but the care for customers by itself is nice:)Definitely not worse than sharpeners from IKEA or similar stores for similar price and convenient handle

I cant ever get my husband to sharpen my knives for me. He always says "later" and it never gets done. Im sure there are others out there that have this problem like me! So I decided to purchase this. I gave 4 stars because I feel like the old fashioned knife sharpener does work better but this things works fast (about 4 swipes) does the job, and is effortless for me!

Haven't had this long but I sharpened my knives with it as soon as it arrived, the results were great. Got my over 10 year old knives feeling like new.
