Electronic Surge Protector for Refrigerators up to 27 Cuft and Freezers

This little device is a must for anything that has a compressor in it such as a refrigerator or freezer. I'm not sure if it would be appropriate for an air conditioner due to their higher current rating. The reason for this is your utility power can and does, at times to either a "brown out" which means the voltage drops below the normal 120 VAC, or will do a quick "drop out" which is like a blink. Either oh these conditions is rather bad for a compressor if it happens to be running at that time. When the power restores to normal, the compressor will try to start but it can't because there is a huge amount of back pressure in the line. During normal cycling, it comes on, runs until the temperature is correct then shuts off. It stays off for usually many minutes. This allows the Freon in the coils to equalize. This device, for a small amount of money, will not allow the power to come back on to your refrigerator or freezer, for about 3 minutes if even the briefest drop in voltage occurs. This not only protects the compressor, but can also protect the digital circuit and driver that controls the compressor. We had a series of blinks that took out a control board in our freezer last Jan. I had put one of these on the new refrigerator but forgot about the older freezer. Luckily, it didn't take out its compressor that time. It has this device on it now! It took $400 to jog my memory... Don't let it happen to you! Get one for each refrigerator and freezer you have!

I mean this thing is jammed packed with electronic components to protect your fridge. There's a total of 57 electronic components and I didn't include the 4 LED lights.The circuit board is well laid out and very clean solder connections. The design engineers were hard at work on this.It does generate a bit of heat. Using my infrared thermometer probing the circuit board temperatures are 80 to 127 degrees Fahrenheit.I own a variac which is an variable AC voltage regulator, basically what it does it allows me to manipulate the voltage of regular household current. This is a great device for protecting modern freezers and refrigerators from power surges and blips. Ordered because our freezer went into error mode and shutdown after a power dip the other day. This device will keep the unit off for 3 minutes after the power stabilizes. The only problem I had with it is that the packaging is in English, but the label on the device (including the part that tells you what the LEDs mean is in a FOREIGN LANGUAGE. Fortunately there is a box on the package that shows what the LEDs mean which I was able to tape to the device. Would give 5 stars if not for this issue.

I was searching for a sturdy but small, against the wall surge protector for my 10 cu ft refrigerator/freezer and this product fit the bill. It is compact in size, occupying only half of the wall outlet. It protects against low and high power fluctuations, both of which can impact a refrigerator. Clearly, I have just started to use this product and it has not yet been tested during a storm or blackout, but so far so good. I can give an update if this happens.In addition, the seller, Kasman Trading, was very responsive and knowledgeable when I had questions about the product. I had overlooked the built-in time delay and thought the item was not operational. Kasman Trading did not hesitate to offer me a refund as well as offer to inform the manufacturer. According to Kasman, they receive very few claims (less than 1%) on the volume that they sell from this particular manufacturer.
