A perfectly average drawing and coloring toy
This "smart art sketcher projector" is a solid example of a 3-star product. In the box you'll get the projector, a dozen felt tipped coloring pens, 4 picture wheels, and a blank workbook to draw in. The projector needs to be assembled, which is a straightforward process that does not require any tools. You will need a screwdriver to open the battery hatch, and then you'll need to install 3 AA batteries (not included). Once you get the projector assembled, you turn it on with a big switch on the top of the unit and insert one of the picture wheels into the slot on the side of the lamp head. There is a little bump in the middle of one side of the picture wheel, and that bump goes up. With a picture wheel in place, you can rotate the wheel to project a different image onto the desk or table. You can also turn a plastic crank on the side to raise or lower the projector head by a couple inches, which in turn, will make the projected image bigger or smaller. It all works and is fairly intuitive for kids 3 and up to operate. There are a couple limitations and/or downsides here. First, the thing is all hollow plastic and doesn't seem like the most durable toy around, especially if a 3 or 4 year old is going to use it. On the flip side, it is lightweight and easy for kids to move around. The four wheels have 8 images each. They are all very cartoony representations of things - animals, sea creatures, fruit, and vehicles. The pictures usually have strong outlines, which is good for kids to trace, but the colored felt tipped marker pens aren't the best for coloring. I actually recommend you show kids how to trace the outlines with the marker pens, but then it works better if they use (not included) crayons or colored pencils to color inside the open spaces. I also don't think the markers are the washable type. But once you draw with the 32 different pictures, I don't think there are any expansion pack wheels. The projector runs on the 3 AA batteries, and I believe they power an LED lamp. If your kid is sitting at a table with plenty of sunlight around, the LED lamp isn't that bright to overpower the sunlight on the table, so it'll be hard to see the projected image. Additionally, if the LED bulb dies...I'm not sure there is a replacement part to buy. The LED should last a long time in theory, but if it fails I think the whole thing becomes useless. So overall, this is thing is...fine. It works. Kids will have some fun with it. But given the questionable durability, the finite number of images to trace, and the dim, battery powered LED bulb, this isn't the type of toy that your kid will come back to over and over again. So you'll have to decide if the price point is worth the amount of expected value you'll get from it. I think in a house where multiple kids will use it, you'll start to extract good value from it. But if you are going to give it to a single 6 year old kid, I'm not sure how long they will use it before it becomes uninteresting to them.

Disappointing
The toy arrived, broken, missing the spring that allows the third battery to power it.
