THE GATES OF VICTORY: The Alternate History Novel of The Battle of El Alamein (The Malta Fulcrum WW2 Alternate History Series Book 3)
W**2
Another "winner" from author Scott Ward
This meaty book tells an alternative tale of the battle of El Alamein/Alam Halfa in World Wat II, after the also-fictional conquest of Malta that helped ease Rommel's supply situation, and while the Germans still had the ability to potentially win World War II. This book brings back many of the characters from the first (of so far) three books, the invasion of Malta. The book is written historically accurately, with well developed combat scenes, and an interesting cast of characters. I'm looking forward to reading of one the main character's (Kuno Schact) future adventures on the eastern front. Sadly, it's been several years since this installment of Mr. Ward's efforts, and I see no word on publication of the next book. But this book is definitely worth your time and effort if you're a fan of alternate history novels. Be warned that you need to read the first book (but not the second book) in this trilogy before reading this one. Five stars.

A plausible premise and a great read
I've read all three books in the series. An excellent WWII what if?/alternate history. Unlike other alternate history books I've read, this tells a story w/fictional characters interacting with real historical personas. Most books I've read of this genre tell the story from a higher perspective --from an army level HQ view. Guys looking at a map and the narrator explaining what's going on in the field and what these guys are thinking and why they made the decisions they did. These books have that as well but much of it is about characters fighting on both sides of the battlefield, trying to survive and win the battle for their side. And these are characters I've grown to care about. These books are all loosely strung together based on the author's premise of what changes in history may have occurred had Malta been captured by Axis forces. That one decision creates larger and larger ramifications as time goes on. Read it and find out what changes occur. I really enjoyed it and it ends with a modest cliffhanger regarding what Major Schacht plans to do with those 60 gold pieces he found in that U.K. paymaster vehicle. Will Kennith ever find Maggie? I've read the author has some kind of vision for other books. That was three years ago. The last book have been written in 2017. Nothing since then. I hope he continues to write more books in this amazing series.

Good read & -- My Vote is for Rommel on the Eastern Front --
Interesting book, I liked the premise and found the plot and its execution a very enjoyable read. All 3 books in this series thus far were quite enjoyable. I did want a bit more detail on the Artic operations and military situation/environment while reading Book 2 however it was still fun to read but a tad short.-- My Vote is for Rommel on the Eastern Front --,After all it does make one wonder how things might have occurred differently if Rommel was not only on the Eastern Front but commanding either the entire Army Group South or just replacing Friedrich Paulus in charge of the Sixth Army. The possibilities and implications are varied and intriguing to say the least!

Compelling storyline, great characters.
Kept me up all night reading. The storyline was compelling, and served to demonstrate the dynamism of Erwin Rommel, and his determination in the quest for victory in the desert. The war isn't over yet, but I'm already wondering which direction the author will take from this point forward. I'm hoping he will continue the drive through the Middle East to the underbelly of Russia. His development of the characters was excellent, and with only a few very minor technical flaws, to boot. A great read.

Amazing AH
I absolutely love this series of books. I think Ward's three books definitely take the cake for some of the best alternative history I have ever read. I am a huge fan of the alternative history genre and just plain old history in general, the way ward weaves everything together and the great length of the books just leaves me constantly turning pages, with intense curiosity of how he will change history for us to ponder! I would recommend all 3 of his books to any fan of alternate history or even just regular history. Cannot wait for the last 3 books in the series.

I've enjoyed all 3 books from Scott Ward
I've enjoyed all 3 books from Scott Ward. For those who enjoy alternate history for WWII, look no further! Scott has a knack for the story telling.Scott - as to your survey for what's next, stick with Kuno! Looking forward to following him in future missions on the Eastern Front. Make sure to bring the Baron back. :-)

Best AH Military Fiction Series of 2017
The seizure of Malta is perhaps the only realistic option that the Germans had to win or prolong WW II that has not been throughly and thoughtfully pursued.

Magnificent (again)
Another fantastic book in the Malta series. As with the previous books it was tremendously exciting and input downableWhat would happen next ???ONLY giving it 4 stars was fairly harsh, but having given both the previous books 5 stars I picked (only) 4 as you can't give everything a 5 and the other two books were better- perhaps it was because there was less naval combat which is the authors strength.- or if i had to nit pick, it could have done with some decent maps.Anyway do yourself a big favour and ignore the slightly high book price and buy the series. If you like AH or even just a good war yarn read these books.Ps....Already looking forward to book 4. Gibraltar will be a good choice. Hopefully the book will expand out into the battle of the Atlantic using ‘what Kuno learnt’ (to keep the Malta consequences flowing) ... and because I thought naval action/battles were the authors strong point.PPS. ........ fantastic series.

Another excellent addition to this line, roll on number 4!
Having very much enjoyed 1 and 2 I went into this one with high hopes. If you like AH novels this is a must to read in my opinion. The only faults are as another reviewer says replaying books 1 and 2 occasionally, which can get slightly jarring. And one that is just me I'd think and won't happen again was the crossing of two characters story that made world a little to small for me. I'd preferred he'd just added a new character to get the two sides of when part. All told though a fantastic book and can't wait to carry on reading this alternate timeline. Very, very good. If you like AH history novels please treat yourself to this!

Third Book in the Op Hercules Series
Just like my previous reviews on the first two books, this story just gets better and better. Same level of detail and character backgrounds which doesn’t appear over the top but just helps fill what is becoming a great series. The three future strands offered for the next book are all equally brilliant in concept and offer great additions to this series. Difficult to choose which one I want to see first but Panzers on the Volga gets my vote. Please just hurry up and release them!!

Another good story
I enjoyed the story and wait for the next which should be Gibralter. There are a few niggles though: Anglican priests are not called Father, the NCO rank is Flight, not Flying, Sergeant, it's aircraft carrier too and the British seem to use a awful lot of 30 calibre machine guns which are American also breach and breech appear to be used at random. Still good though.
