Q: Does the screen lose it's "Strength" after awhile? Our dogs like to bolt out of doors (usually after squirrels and wondered if the screen would hold.

We haven't had the doggie door long enough to observe any weakening of the original screen. Although, our dogs run though at top speed as well and it's holding up so far. Just make sure when you go to install the frame you pull tight on the screen while you put the screw/bolts on. I would definitely have someone help you. One to put the screws in and the other to hold the screen taunt. If it is still a major concern for you, replace your original screen with some tough screen then add the door to that. we used ours for husky who was about 85lbs it would depend on the height of the dog , hope this helped

Just needs to be a screen door doesn’t matter if it’s a slider or not

Q: I have a storm door with screens but the bottom is solid .5 inches. I want to install it in the solid bottom area, since it is .5 inches will it work?

No, my husband who installed ours said that won't work. The front and back of the frame snap together and .5" is too thick for their parts to meet and connect. (He's an engineer and said it would take too much modification to make it work.)
