Great Buy!
A marvelous bargain. Most all of the colors one needs...or easy to mix one that it doesn't have. In a neat box that is easy to keep by the painting area, each tube is laid color up, so very easy to reach what I need, and easy to keep neat. I like the size of the tubes, and the colors seem as vibrant as most. Enclosed paint brushes, not so much. Great buy!

Lives up to the "Bright" color description...
Really bright colors, smooth lay down. I used these direct from the tube, placed a tiny dot of the paint on the palette and added a couple of drops of water and they stayed quite concentrated. In order to get to a transparent hue I had to add quite a bit of water to go from the super bright color to a more watercolor transparency. I'd say they would be really great for art journals or a painting where you would want heavy vibrancy. See the attached picture for the transparency over a black line. The far right block shows the transparency of the final row after adding additional water to make those colors more transparent. Additional thought, only the Prussian Blue has a noticeable odor.

Vibrant colors
This is my first set of water colors and I am delighted with the quality and the range of colors. The colors are vibrant and there really is no need to mix because the kit comes with such a wide selection of hues. Really pleased with my purchase.

I think this is a really good watercolor set for the price point
After reading several positive reviews of these paints, I decided I would try them in my card making. I am impressed with the quality of the paints, the way they move on the paper and the selection of colors. I think this is a really good watercolor set for the price point. I decided to put a small amount of each color into an empty palette and allow to dry so that I can carry them with me when I travel. I left the pallete open overnight to dry. The next morning, the smell of formalin in the room was overwhelming. I've worked in the medical field for over 20 years, so this is an easily identifiable odor for me. The smell of these paints is more objectionable than any anatomy specimen I've ever touched, so there has to be a substantial amount of formalin in them. I understand that in some less expensive watercolor paints formalin is used as a preservative. However it seems to me that the amount of formalin used is excessive and would make me wonder how safe these paints would be for use by children or those with respiratory tract issues. The package label contains no list of ingredients and says it is safe for use by children 3 plus years of age. Not sure I would expose chidren to the smell of these... I think I will enjoy using them, but I will have to paint in a well-ventilated area!

Our Granddaughter Said The Paint Set Was An Awesome Birthday Present
Just got around to asking our Granddaughter about this paint set we gave her for her birthday. She said the colors are awesome and it was nice to have some brushes included with it. She said it is definitely a great gift for anyone who is a beginning painter/artist.

Nice, but smelly
Quite impressed, colors are transparent, luminous and mix well with each other. I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the strong smell. In the 30 years that I have been using watercolours (many different brands), this one surpasses them all smell wise. Might affect some people. So I have been using them for a few days and I wont anymore. The smell is so bad, it gives me migraines.Over all, I would not buy again nor recommend it.

colors aren't bad at all BUT
This is an edit of my original review where I gave only one star and said I would throw them away. The negative is the odor, but over several months it will lessen. The paints cracked when I put them in half pans. When I first tried the paints, I used a less expensive paper and didn't like how they looked when the paints dried. UPDATE: Today I took the paints back out again and swatched them out on Arches paper and I have to say that I loved the colors, and when applying wet into wet, they granulated very nicely so I have decided to just deal with the odor, which has lessened, and try to ignore that they cracked in the half pans. There is no pigment or lightfastness information. All in all, for the money I think it's a pretty good deal if you can get past the smell.
