Made in China. It is a very nice design IMO but if you do not like the design, don’t buy it. The handle is not thermally isolated from the body so it heats up. Not terrible but... it gets a little hot

Can you use to heat milk, or only water?

I would not advise you to heat milk. Not only the milk boiling point is lower and you will risk spilling it over. But once you heat milk you will have a hard time cleaning it. So just use it for water. You may heat milk in the microwave

Is there a place to hide the cord when not in use?

The base is designed for cord storage (simple, not spring- loaded).

Does water come in contact with any plastic?

There is a plastic part around the spout, inside. For sure the steam riches that area and also water touches it when you pour it out However it is not residing in the boiling water unless you overfill it
