Excellent!
It handles introduction, and management of 3 section staff, it includes a form to handle it.

Very informative, just small.
While its very obvious that Eric Lee knows what he's talking about, the physical size of the book itself, makes it hard to view the page & follow the technique. The book is very long though, so while its small in size, its not small in information. An idea I had though, was to scan the pages for the things I really wanted to learn, enlarge them and print them out at home. Then I can tape them up on the wall & follow along. I would never sell the copies, as a self-published author (for fun), I want Eric Lee to make all the money he can (and he could really twist me into a pretzel if I did)"What?? You've never seen a foot-uppercut?"-Adam Sandler as Zohan.

Advanced, but Excellent for the Beginner
Advanced Three Sectional Staff is well written, and illustrated. The title could be somewhat misleading, because the book opens with the basics, and moves to the advanced. It is written from the standpoint of the use of the weapon in practical self defense, as opposed to the showy moves in wushu demonstrations. As the author points out, some formal training should be recieved. It will save you a lot of unnecessary and painful bumps and bruises from your own weapon, as you master it's use. I would highly recommend the foam training version of the staff for the beginner. It is weighty enough for a realistic training experience, until you are comfortable enough with your skills to move on to the the hardwood staff.

great book
I love the way the book breaks down the moves and strikes. And also the way it shows you how the move is suppose to work. the pictures are great.

Great for beginners!!
This book's definitely great for beginners who wished to improve their techniques in sanchaku. Each technique and kata is clearly illustrated, making it easier to understand the routines performed. Practical applications of three-section staff is also explained in details. If you had background basics in nunchaku and bo staff fightings, it would be easier to pick up the techniques in this book:)

How many ways can you leave me thirsty?
I really wanted to like this book, but the photos are often very difficult to make out, and the descriptions are also not precise. I have no idea how to do the form based on their combination, and I'm used to learning from books. This really needs a DVD, or it would be helpful to see it performed somewhere to make it less baffling. The three sectional staff is one of the most difficult weapons to use and it really deserves nuance, which you won't find here. Applications are at times laughable (against two swordsmen, for example), which doesn't really do honor to the weapon. Your time would be better spent learning online. Take the money you saved an buy some head protection while you're learning!
