I just started making sauerkraut, and this thing is awesome.The wood is not only attractive but because of its grain structure, doesn't absorb noticeably any of the liquid produced.After manipulating the cabbage by hand, I let it sit for a while, then tamp it with a twisting motion to really work it hard.Then when jarring the kraut, the crusher easily lets me compact it in the jars...it's perfect for the function it was made for.I love it.

I wanted this for Christmas. Package was ripped from outside and item was ripped from the package. Item was used and stained and also stained the package. Item was also cracked in several spots. Returning as soon as possible. Horrible experience.

Great wood, probably a product someone returned..Disappointed! .. but I suspect they'll replace this one quickly.
