Try these for games of Fetch with your cat!
These are some of the sturdiest feathers around. The only ones I think might be sturdier are the goose feather ones sold by the same company. But they've never been able to destroy these in a week like those of other brands. I was having real battles with two of them hogging the tethered stick that I tried a new method. First I snip off the elastic tether on this, then, using masking tape, attach a penny (you might need two, depending on your aim) and use it as a chase toy. This wasn't my idea at all. The bold kitty had chewed off one of the "birds" and began bringing it to me; I threw it; she returned it, and all of a sudden, we had a game of Fetch going on. If I try to ignore her, she leaps up and drops it in the middle of my keyboard. She wants to do this several times a day, and goes nuts when I show her the "bird." I do think that the Original Da Bird works better on the pole because it doesn't stretch, but for tossing, this is the best, period.

Feather end too heavy, stiff
First, I have to say that it drives me nuts when vendors bug me to write a review. I like to use a product for a while before I review it.That, however, is not coloring my feeling about this actual product. I guess I thought I was getting a different type of toy than the one that came with the original wand. While this makes a very satisfying 'whiz-whirr' as it goes through the air, and grabs the cats' interest, the cats lose a little interest if they actually get accidentally hit by it. It seems pretty stiff, which may be either the arrangement of the feathers or the rachis (center) feathers themselves One of my cats will be very pleased to have caught it, and will lie on it for a bit, but if you tug it, he moves--I suspect because it's stiff. . When that happens a few times, they lose interest. It also twists around where it attaches to the rod, so you have to stop periodically and unwind it. Since I now have five of these, I'll probably use them, but these are not the cats' favorite toy. Too much weight on the feather end.

Not as advertised
Not for Da Bird. No spin, different clasp, plastic solder spilling out from the top, poor quality string. All five come stuffed in one tube, flattened in the package. If you start to work the feathers out to get fluttering from them, you can feel the toy coming apart.Couldn't even get him interested in chasing it across the floor. Broke out the original, mangled head I was replacing and he went bonkers. Have already requested a return. Give the other positive reviews, maybe this was just the bad package of 5?

Cat Heaven
I have a Maine Coon 8 month old kitten who plays rough, with me and his toys. He LOVES DaBird toy with the Guinea Fowl feathers. When he yanks it out of my hand, he takes off with it, head held high (so proud of himself!) pole and all and shreds the feathers, possibly swallowing some of the feather shafts. He has been through about 6 replacements in just a couple of months. I'm worried eating the shafts of the feathers will be bad for his throat and stomach? He's still a kitten after all! Some might wonder how he (McGee) gets it out of my hand and the answer is if I don't let go, the rubber tip comes flying off the end of the pole and he runs off with the feather and string and I usually can't find the tip. I'm afraid McGee will and swallow itThe pole itself is holding up well. McGee reaally likes to play with this and can do it for hours. He'd be happy to just carry it around which gives me a break but, again, he'll destroy and eat it. Any suggestions?

One Star
Buy the Da'bird brand. These do not move in the air correctly, they don't spin.

Great price and quality for a favorite kitty toy refill
This is my felines' favorite toy. Well... refill for their favorite toy.Let's face it, there's no 'sturdy' feathers that will last a long time w/a feather crazy killer kitten. You can only hope a feline won't destroy the feathers right away because the feather toy maker glued them in the best possible way. This company glues them in pretty good. They also sell the refills at a great price. The only question is which of the two scenarios will happen first? "Will my feline rip out a perfectly good feather?" or"Will he destroy the feather so it has to be thrown away?"The only thing you can do is invest in a $6 glue gun, hope you don't glue your fingers to the feathers on the occasion you use it.Bottom line, it's the best price and quality for what it is. I recommend it to anyone and keep buying them.

Great quality and value
Our male cat, Gotti, loves these natural Guinea feathers. He is very rough on them, so it's nice to have so many feathers in one replacement. It would be nice if there was a way to reinforce the quills. He goes right for the tip of the quill and chews , or cracks them. So, if we lose a quill , we can still use the toy, because I think there are 5 feathers in one.The other thing i would mention, the string is too elastic, which makes it harder to control. But they are top quality, as I said , our cat Gotti is very tough on feathers , and these have held up much better than the others. We have tried them all. We will be reordering again.

Not exactly what I was expecting...
I got the Bird Catcher Pro, and my cats really liked it. They liked it so much that they destroyed the feather attachments in about a month. I ordered the refill pack to find a minor but important difference in the refills vs what came with the toy. The refill string was elastic while the string with the original toy was not. This wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that my cats don't like the way the toy moved on the elastic string nearly as much as they did the regular string.String difference aside, the feather part of the refills is very nice. Net, if your cats enjoy the way the toy moves with an elastic string this difference will not matter to you. It just so happens that my cats don't like it.
