Worked perfectly
Worked great. The remote provided programed easily, and the OE remote also reprogrammed just as easily. Reasonable priced, easy & quick use… particularly if you’re comparing it with the cost of this service at a dealership.

It actually works.
I bought a 2004 neon srt4 for a winter beater and of course it didn't come with any fobs. Typically you have to take the car to the dealership to have fobs programmed, which I did, and it didn't work with different fobs purchased elsewhere. After shelling out tons of money for not so satisfactory service at the dealership, I ordered this and had a programmed fob in literally 5 seconds. I will update as time goes on (battery life, etc) but initially, I am very happy with the product. Side note, you can also use this to program other fobs to your vehicle - not just the one it comes with. This is a major benefit in my opinion. But this before taking your car to the dealership. Cost of other fobs + dealership fees ~$200, no working fobs. Cost of THIS unit $60 with a coupon via Amazon. Fob works great.

This Dorman product (13778) DOES WORK on UNLISTED 1999 JGC!!! Also, see missing programing insructions! PLEASE READ ON.
Works great with aftermarket and factory remotes. My 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee isn't listed on the description, website and/or the package, but I believed it would work, so I took a chance and ordered it. As it turned out, I was right. However, I discovered that the instructions left out some important information, which I figured out on my own. I would like to share it. When adding a remote, the other working remote (if there is one) losses its connection and needs to be re-installed. Each remote needs to be installed during the SAME PROGRAMMING SESSION. Also, you can choose ANY REMOTE, ANY COLOR (aftermarket or factory) to be installed as driver one (black) or driver two (gray). REMOTE COLOR DOESN'T MATTER. It's important to follow programming instructions in order or it won't work. Turn ignition on (DON'T START ENGINE) and plug Programmer into OBD/DLC port and listen for programing mode chime. Simultaneously press and hold the UNLOCK and LOCK buttons on one of the remotes for 3 seconds (putting the remote into program mode), PRESS EITHER THE DRIVER ONE (black) OR DRIVER TWO (gray) BUTTON ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. Then press the remote's UNLOCK button for 2 seconds. Repeat with the second remote, but this time pressing the remaining driver button on the door. When finished programing both key fob remotes, TURN OFF IGNITION FIRST BEFORE UNPLUGGING PROGRAMMER. After unplugging programmer you must WAIT FOR 2 MINUTES before pressing any buttons on the key fob remotes, then test the remotes and make sure they both work and that the driver numbers chosen are correct. In case one or more are not working, repeat the whole process again. It sounds more complicated than is. This whole procedure only takes about a minute or two (excluding the 2 minute wait time). If any remote still isn't working, check if the battery or batteries (some remotes use one CR2032 or two CR2016 3v coin batteries) is/are weak, replace if necessary and also clean each battery and remote contacts with alcohol or contact cleaner. Avoid finger prints. Also, make sure they are installed correctly. It's easy to install backwards. Neg. faces back cover and Pos. Faces up towards circuit board. I hope this was helpful. Remember buying this programmer costs a whole lot less than the dealers charge and can be used whenever needed on your or any other listed vehicles. I recommend this Dorman product and doing it yourself. It's way easier than it sounds!

Worked like a charm. Saved me from a long trip to dealer!
My Mom sort of lost her memory suddenly and moved to a facility and I had to go get her car. She had long ago lost the key fob, so I purchased one on Amazon, only to realize you have to go to a dealer for programming. I searched on youtube for solutions, since the nearest Jeep dealer is like an hour through traffic for me, and found this kit. Comes with the programmable module and a key fob. I went ahead and programmed both fobs so now I have a backup. It was so easy! Literally took me about 3 minutes to complete both fobs. If anything ever goes wrong with my current fobs, will be easy to program new ones now. Well worth the price of the kit. I would highly recommend if you have older Jeeps and don't live close to a dealer.

Don't Fumble Your Fobs! –-> Tips and Warnings for the Dorman 13778 on a '99 Jeep GC
I own a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WJ), and when I viewed the Dorman 13778 on Amazon, the site warned: “This product does not fit 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee.” Despite that, I ordered it anyway — because I had seen a YouTube video showing someone successfully using this kit with the same vehicle. It worked! I was able to program a new fob and reprogram my factory ones — but I’m only giving it three stars for several reasons: 1. My Jeep Isn't Typical I’ve replaced the original ECM (engine control module) specifically to eliminate the SKIM (Sentry Key Immobilizer Module) system. My current ECM likely has different firmware and behavior from the OEM setup, which may affect fob programming. So while it worked for me, your results may vary, especially if you're using a stock system. 2. Only One Fob Included — And No Spares Available The kit only comes with one Dorman key fob. I couldn’t find a way to buy a compatible spare separately. That means if you want two working fobs, you have to buy two full kits, which is ridiculous. [--> Dorman, seriously — sell the fob separately! Forcing customers to buy an entire $80 kit just to get another $30 fob is a poor experience!] 3. Misleading Instructions & Usage Limits The instructions say the kit has a limited number of uses, and I read online reviews suggesting it can only be used two or three times. I ran it 8–10 times while troubleshooting and it still worked fine, so I suspect the real limitation is tied to the number of fobs the vehicle can accept, not the kit itself. There’s also a timer during programming — you have to register all the fobs you want to use in a single session -- approximately 15 seconds on my vehicle -- or they won’t all configure. At first, I couldn’t get all three fobs (two OEM + one Dorman) to sync because I ran out of time. I eventually realized the kit beeps at completion of each programming step, and that the beeps — you do NOT have to wait for the full wait times in the instructions. Those beeps are the real cues to move on. My tips: --> Ignore the full “3 sec / 2 sec” instructions. --> Instead, press Lock + Unlock, wait for the beep, then press Unlock and wait for the next beep, then move on. That cut each programming cycle down to ~2 seconds, which gave me enough time to program all three fobs successfully within the ~15-second window. -->Line up the fobs, side by side, on a hard flat surface so you can move between them quickly. Also, the closer to the programmer you are, the faster you [seem to] get the beep! Final Thoughts: --> Yes, it worked on my 1999 Grand Cherokee (with a replaced ECM and no SKIM). --> No, you can’t buy extra fobs without buying another whole kit. (But, you may be able to find used OEM Fobs that you can reprogram -- I did!) --> Yes, programming is time-sensitive, but if you listen for the beeps, it’s manageable. --> Maybe, the "limited use" warning refers to the number of fobs or sessions — but in my case, 10+ uses were fine. I hope this saves someone else the frustration I went through. Good luck!!

Life Saver-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, Quadra Track HO V8 N Model
5 Stars isn't enough for when technology works how its supposed to. Just like me this Jeep...she a project...I wish I had bought this sooner, my year and make only has one door key on the driver side. This worked on the first try, the directions and process are simple, I promise you anyone who can read and follow instructions can use it. Planning to buy two more fobs to have on hand. The fob that came with my key was not programable but they guy who owned it before me was tough on the vehicle. 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, Quadra Track (4 Wheel All The Time), HO V8 N Model Engine

It works...
It did take a couple of goes though. First I didn't know I had to re-setup my original FOB since it was working. So it doesn't tell you that you'll need to do all fob's and you can't just add a fob on. The next two tries I think I didn't hold something down long enough on one of the Fob's since I would get one that worked and the other didn't. I think the 2 minute wait afterwards isn't 100% needed since on my forth attempt I just tried each key fob and they worked without waiting. Tried 10 minutes after the initial programming and both Fob's are working great. At least going forward I know I can just buy a Fob and continue to use the programmer to replace them if something happens to one. Be patient, it does take a little bit to get the hold the lock&unlock down 3 seconds and the press and hold unlock for 2 seconds per fob. So if you mess up, just keep trying until you get all fob's working. Anyone who has a PT Cruiser '01-'05 and have your original Fob for 16 years and still kicking, but feels like it's on its last leg, get this. You don't need to go to the dealer and have them charge you an arm and a leg for something so easy to program. Update: So I like to make an update on the fob that comes with the key fob transmitter. So after a year it just died today(6/19/2022) little more then a year after I bought this product. Again, transmitter works fine, this is only for the fob. Seeing a my old fob I got with my car is still kicking (17 years) and this one died only after a year of light use I feel like the fob quality should provide at least 5 years of use, but that's just my opinion. So if you're buying this just for the programmer it is still a good buy. If you plan to use the included fob, you might want to look for an extra.

Easy to set up and worth every penny
Has great range, use it frequently through my brick house and across the parking lot. Was completely easy to sync and can even sync OEM fobs that are similar to this
